I know that this might be too difficult for you to follow but even if the news reports are accurate (and multiple witnesses who were there insist that they are not) there doesn't appear to be any reason to defend Trump here in that he, like Obama, didn't do anything wrong or illegal.

What I'm doing is comparing the stark differences in how the incidents were covered.

That is the same thing that happened with Plame. It was widely known among the cocktail crowd in D.C. that she was an agent of the CIA, but when Richard Armitage confirmed that it was true to columnist Robert Novak then it became a problem.

What about the stark difference in how it was handled by the administration? "We made a mistake and fixed it" is a far cry from "I didn't do anything wrong".

As DE already noted, Trump didn't do anything "wrong." Neither did Obama when he told the Russians about our operations in Syria last summer (resulting in the Russians immediately targeting our allies) or when he exposed our chief CIA agent in Afghanistan.

The difference is how these stories are being covered.

I think you could argue that both Obama and Trump did something wrong, but that's beside the point. Your counter-example was a mistake that was corrected. Nothing Trump says or does indicates he's capable of such behavior. This isn't a media issue; it's basic personality differences.

How was it "corrected" except with an oops?

When Obama informed the Russians of what we were doing in Syria the Russians immediately attacked our allies there. How was this corrected?

And just how do you correct Obama's slipping up and exposing the name of our top CIA agent in Afghanistan? Do say that you were just kidding? Do you say you meant someone else with the same name? The cat is out of the bag and nothing you can do will put it back in.

All these things are serious. It looks like it's reached the point where even the Republican congressmen have finally been forced to act, and it looks likely Trump will be ousted within the next 2 months.

I'm not sure whether that's a good thing because his replacement with simply be a more competent Republican sociopath, like Mike Pence, perhaps, who even looks like a super-villain out of a superhero movie. The Republicans will continue their evil, sociopathic, and immoral policies aimed at destroying America and sacking the country in order to channel all it's wealth into the hands of their mega-rich donors, so the 0.1% will have it great while the rest of the country falls apart, its middle class, education system, environment, healthcare system, and economy, all destroyed. I can only hope that enough voters see how horrible their actions are that they will be voted out in 2018 and 2020, and that the country rises up and cleans-house of the corrupt politicians (including replacing the corrupt politicians among the Democrat party).
