Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott has sent busloads of illegal aliens to “sanctuary cities” Washington, D.C., New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Denver. On Wednesday, the straight-talking governor upped his game: he dropped off the first busload of illegals in downtown Los Angeles.

And, yes — grab the popcorn, pop a squat, and wait for L.A. Mayor Karen Bass and California Gov. Gavin Newsomas the AP notes, the state has “extended protections to illegal immigrants, “even to the extent of allowing them to apply for various state benefits.”

Indeed. 420,000 new illegal immigrants would be noteworthy for LA, but not 42.

Such manipulation of the lives of human beings for political ends offends the conscience though. It suggests that Abbott and his supporters do not really see these 42 people as human. If he wanted to demonstrate his immorality I guess he's done so.

My point, though, is that without media fanfare this would never be noticed. For both sides of the issue. He could have sent one person to Los Angeles with the same result. Now, Martha's Vineyard was noticeable - so much so that the immigrants were quickly shipped back out.

But I am getting uneasy about this sort of political stunt. It seemed appropriate at first and it made a big splash, but now it just appears to be dehumanizing. There must be other ways to protest the border situation.

Likewise, every time he whines, more Americans learn that the Biden Administration does the same thing every single day -- except they do it in the dead of night and usually the only way anyone learns about it is when someone calls the cops about a large group of people just dumped off at the local airport or bus station wandering around aimlessly.
