I thought we wanted police trained better?

Hopefully they throw the book at them. That they might is definitely possible considering at the last riot um, mostly peaceful protest, several were detained without bail.

        Silly boy.

That would be logical and Good Western Logic as Merely White-Privilege Oppression

Best to correct that mistake before it adversely affects your Social Credit score and the government freezes your bank account.

Looks like a staff lawyer for the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), Tom Jurgens, was among those arrested for violence at the site -- something that none of the networks mentioned during their scant coverage geared toward downplaying the violence and trying to make this into one of their "mostly peaceful" protests.

At one time SPLC was a valuable resource in combating domestic terrorism but have fallen mightily since those days, being unceremoniously dropped as a partner by every government agency and even inspired an armed gunman, Floyd Corkins II, into going into the offices of the Family Research Council and start shooting (fortunately wounding only one before being stopped) after the SPLC falsely branded them a domestic terrorist group.

Now that one of their employees has been caught red-handed engaging in domestic terrorism, it should be amusing to see how they spin this.

ATLANTA – The National Lawyers Guild (NLG) and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) issued statements in response to the arrest of a legal observer on Sunday, March 5 in Atlanta:

              NLG

“Law enforcement detained at least 35 demonstrators in Atlanta on Sunday, including an NLG Legal Observer. All of these arrests are part of ongoing state repression and violence against racial and environmental justice protesters, who are fighting to defend their communities from the harms of militarized policing and environmental degradation. Each of these instances, including the many protesters charged with domestic terrorism, make clear that law enforcement views movement activists as enemies of the state.

“As trained witnesses of police conduct, NLG Legal Observers serve an important role in supporting movement organizers and activists. NLG is proud to contribute in whatever ways we can to advancing the critical work of our movement allies advocating for liberation and community care. NLG remains in solidarity with the movement to Stop Cop City.”

              SPLC

“An employee at the SPLC was arrested while acting — and identifying — as a legal observer on behalf of the National Lawyers Guild (NLG). The employee is an experienced legal observer, and their arrest is not evidence of any crime, but of heavy-handed law enforcement intervention against protesters.

“This is part of a months-long escalation of policing tactics against protesters and observers who oppose the destruction of the Weelaunee Forest to build a police training facility. The SPLC has and will continue to urge de-escalation of violence and police use of force against Black, Brown and Indigenous communities — working in partnership with these communities to dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements and advance the human rights of all people.”

                "legal observer"

And they completely ignore that the "protestors" were firebombing the police with Molotov cocktails and fireworks. This wasn't a peaceful protest in the least.

Apparently, at least according to Newsweek, he's facing domestic terrorism charges, not something like trespassing or obstructing, so hardly standing around doing nothing to nobody just being a "legal observer."

Newsweek is also reporting on allegations that he's a member of antifa, which if true would come as absolutely no surprise to anyone.

Additionally if he claims he was there as a "legal observer" then that indicates that he was aware of what was going to happen (i.e. the violence) making him even more culpable for not reporting it before it started or even trying to talk them out of it. Also it means he has to be a witness against the protestors, since he observed them attacking the police with firebombs which they have on video. I think trying to call him a "legal observer" is just digging his hole deeper.

As Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) asked, now that an employee has been arrested on a charges of domestic terrorism, will SPLC list itself as a hate group?

Of course not. Hating police is just fine.

I've noted previously that unlike many other metropolitan cities, they are not getting the Soros treatment here -- a nod and a wink with all charges dropped or reduced to the point that only a minimal fine is paid.
