Hmm. I don't remember that. Not saying that those interviews did not exist, but it seemed to happen so immediately that I'm not sure anyone could do anything about it. If I remember correctly it was a relatively mild winter a normal spring followed by an overly warm summer. I can't imagine the government actually doing anything practical to prevent the deaths. As a Midwesterner (ex-New Englander) it seemed like a typical temp fluctuation. Course living on base, I had air conditioning, and being a Midwesterner I didn't think much of it (we get 70 degree winter days followed by freezing late Springs). I remember hearing the reports of old people dying and thought it strange, but nothing radical. I just can't imagine the government being able to do anything other than mass installing air conditioners which seems impractical.

FWIU the worst part of the heatwave (at least in France) was in August when much of the population goes on holiday (vacation). Everyone just assumed that their older relatives would be taken care of because hey they paid their taxes for that sorta thing. When several thousand died due to dehydration and heat exhaustion (estimates range from 11,000 to over 14,000) there was a lot of guilt felt since people understood that if only they had bothered to check to see how they were doing their deaths might have been averted.

The point is that everyone thought that it was the government's job because that's one of things they pay taxes for rather than taking any responsibility themselves for the well-being of their elderly parents and grandparents.

Interesting because I was trying to figure out who you remind me of. Here's a few things you support:

                  1. Political violence against ones enemies.
                  2. Vilifying anyone who disagrees with you.
                  3. Attempts to rewrite history in your own image.
                  4. Saying that an entire class of people is disposable.
                  5. Cheering when someone, whom you politically disagree with is violently attacked.

What other historical figures do these things you've given your support of remind you of?
"The man from the yacht thought he was the first to find England; I thought I was the first to find Europe. I did try to found a heresy of my own; and when I had put the last touches to it, I discovered that it was orthodoxy."

Is that like piling my history books into a kind of Mt Rushmore-like shape of my own face?

                    4. Saying that an entire class of people is disposable.
Are you referring to the top 0.1%, or US Evangelical Christians?

A lot of people thought that neo-nazi getting a one-off punch in the face was pretty funny. Trust you to disingenuously misrepresent me by trying to generalize it.

I think you getting punched in the face would be hilarious so I can't complain.

Or more like making up bizarre Biblical interpretations that nobody seriously believes.

I was referring to your psychopathic attitude towards the execution of children, but wanting to kill rich people would also work too.

You would think that a self proclaimed pacifist would condemn violence against anyone, including neo nazis. And no I do not find assault funny at all, no matter who they are. Just goes to show what kind of hypocrite you are.

Well I seriously believe them. I don't know if you understand this, but thinking about new biblical interpretations is basically what any biblical researcher or academic theologian does, it's not like I'm unique. N.T. Wright produces super-creative new interpretations on a regular basis to the point where even I couldn't take him seriously, but people seem to like his work.

Do you get that killing people and a single punch are different? I wouldn't be surprised if you don't understand that to be honest.

I'm honestly confused as to why. I strongly dislike Schumer and want to see him replaced along with all the other corporate democrats. I tend to get annoyed at libs who play the race card too much so I'm not one to play it at all often myself, and I'm certainly not a person who goes for any sort of overly-emotional anything so I don't have a crying card. And I don't understand the diaper comment at all, perhaps I'm missing a reference? I feel you must have a really weird idea of me if that reminds you of me.

Which makes you an idiot because you've been given multiple reasons why your bizarre interpretations are wrong, but don't care because you have an agenda to press. Now please show your assertion is true about theologians, specifically NT Wright, 'making up new interpretations' because I'm sure you'll botch it up too like you botch up anything even remotely dealing with religion or politics.

Nice distraction, but I'm well aware that actually pacifist are against all forms of violence. I also never claimed to be a pacifist either, but just pointing how much of a hypocrite you are. Just like another historical figure. Deflecting and accusations, without evidence is your game eh? Keep showing just how right I am about you.
