Or in parts of the nation with very little sun for a large part of the year. I would be interested in seeing an over all cost including installation and maintenance/repair costs over time, and reliable productivity for all year (especially for the Anchorage Alaska region).

I do imagine that being covered in a metre of snow would not only impact the efficiency of the solar panel, but could also shorten it's lifespan.

I think we are a bit shy of a metre here in my area.

Geothermal power is the answer.

All we need to do is put a dome over Washington DC and collect the hot air and use it to turn turbines.

Worked in Rocky and Bullwinkle. There was an episode where to create hot air in order to power an airplane, they start reading congressional speeches into it.

That show was awesome.
