The new District Attorney for Manhattan in New York, Alvin Bragg, has gotten some attention because he'll now be in charge of the never-ending quest of investigating Trump, but the policies he is instituting are beginning to be noticed. And not in a good way.
In his very first message to his staff he informed them that they would no longer be prosecuting a number of minor crimes and not seeking jail sentences for a slew of others, including serious crimes.
This should come as no surprise given that his candidacy was funded with a million dollar contribution from a George Soros-backed group.
Critics are saying that he will not seek pre-trial detention or prison sentences for crimes other than homicide, public corruption, and a few other exceptional cases and even then the prosecutors will first have to request and be granted permission to request incarceration.
That pretty much brings to an end NYC's new mayor Eric Adam's promise of cracking down in the city even before it started.
