Fixx neglected to make it known that he previuosly was a 2-pack-a-day cigarette smoker.

The fact of the matter is that it seems to often be pure chance as to whether the individual will have a mild or serious reaction to this disease.

The effects of so-called long-term Covid also get little mention here. They [judging from what one reads] can be quite devastating.

More so than you apparently. When you get your medical degree, then you can criticize me.

How do you suppose someone infected with a virus gets a "mild case" and it goes away? Magic? It's their immune system working to get rid of the virus. If it didn't do so, or their immune system is weak, then the virus would continue to multiply and make them sicker and sicker. That's how it works, Hypatia. Biology 101. Viruses don't just go "Hey, let's go easy on this guy and just infect him a little bit then go on our way"

FWIU, it was attributed to a genetic predisposition (his father died young from a heart attack) and a congenitally enlarged heart. Other factors like being a smoker at one time and going through a divorce certainly didn't help.

[sarcasm is unavoidable] Of course that must be the reason why for millennia all those millions across the globe died of smallpox, they must just have had weak immune systems.

            Well thank you "Prof"
