Can you link to the wording of this offer? IIRC, it was a conditional surrender that was unacceptable to the allies, and that the offer was not considered genuine anyway, that it was a delaying tactic while Japan regrouped.

It's been a couple decades since I was really into WWIi history, but IIRC the offer was indeed conditional though mainly just on the condition that their emperor would be able to continue to be their leader, which the allies did not want. AFAIK it was a genuine offer.

What a stupid warning, with WAAAY too much information for its purpose. Some bureaucrat must have written it. If I read that leaflet, I would have thought it was pure propaganda, like Saddam's "mother of all battles."

All that was needed was something like: "XXX (city name) is about to be the focus of a bombing campaign of complete obliteration. You must evacuate immediately." The city needed to be specifically named so the residents would know it isn't a generic propaganda leaflet.

Maybe. The more I look at it, the more it looks like a "you've already seen what we can do, there is more of the same on the way" kind of missive. The kind of message that would be appropriate AFTER a demonstration of power.

We need to have a national dialogue on race but every single time someone starts it turns into a haranguing lecture from those on the left with whites literally being told to shut up (unless they're on the left). So much for dialogue, and we return to our respective corners even angrier.
