The FBI remained quiet about the investigation regarding Trumps ties to Russia throughout the summer because according to Comey himself, he feared interupting in the election. Thats the point! Its standard protocol to keep silent an investigation unless there is an actual indictment. He knowingly followed that rule in the Trump case, but violated it in the Clinton case.

This is just Harry Reid's usual kind of baseless smear that he launches against any Republican who runs for president, during the final days of each election.

For instance, Reid declared from the floor of the Senate that someone told him that Romney had not paid his taxes, an anonymous accusation that would linger in peoples minds during the last week of an election cycle.

Wrong, it was an actual investigation of Trump, his campaign, and their ties to Russia which was kept quiet by the FBI for fear it would influence the election. Comey violated that long held policy by making the investigation of Huma Abedin's e-mails public with no evidence of any wrong doing.
