I don't 'follow' any individual on the site, I just told the site what general topics I was interested in and it filters its threads based on that - I assume this thread was shortlisted for me due to my having ticked the 'politics' category.

The point of Quora threads like that is not to place credulous belief in any given person posting in them, but is to get a sense of the spectrum of views being posted. If my question going into it is, 'what would the average UK person expect to happen?', then having exceptionally average people posting answers is desirable. Not because I believe everything they say, but because it gives me a sense of what average people think.
You got sucked in by some goofus who cusses a lot, watches tv, and signs checks. That makes him an expert on US politics.

Once again star manages to step in it and it immediately becomes because everyone is an imbecile.

We now know the extent of SL's sources on American politics: TYT and now Quora.

And you managed, all by your own little self, to find one of the biggest idiots on Quora....

That's what happens when you come up with a really bird-brained stupid notion, and scrub the intenetzweb looking for somebody stupid enough to agree.

          It's OK, buddy... keep posting....

Now, now, star has made it abundantly clear that he also relies on what he gets from Hollyweird movies and TV shows.

And now, profane check signers and lead story writhers for obscure comics franchises.

                • Perhaps the most amusing thing about these threads where you guys all faceplant with every post, is that you seem to really and truly think I'm the one making a fool of myself. It's quite something.

What's sad is that I think SL actually believes his own idiocy!

Hmm. Let's ask this question then...

Let's say an identical mob to the Jan 6th one, had instead decided to target the White House, let's say with the stated goal of forcing Biden to physically leave it or prevent him ever entering it in the first place, and to reclaim it for Trump. Would you expect a more lethal response from the defending officers, and if so, why? Would you view there as being a strong rational or legal justification for a more lethal response in such an instance than on Jan 6?

Very likely, that's why the secret service is there. Remember, they ran trump to a bunk when BLM rioted near the wh, and then the left mocked trump for going to a bunker.

If you want to start a thread on an assault on the White House (now that you've learned it's the CAPITOL in this discussion), feel free to start a thread on that, but do NOT derail this thread in your vain attempt to save face.

We don't have to imagine. We have other incidents of angry mobs storming the Capitol -- two in 2018. So we know how they have reacted previously. Mass arrests (although with violators typically getting released with a warning or having to pay a small fine), but noticeably no Barney Fife on methamphetamine and a loaded gun.
