  • Trump tweets "check out sex tape", and has a bad 24 hours

Trump had a rather bad 24 hours yesterday, and he tweeted throughout the night before tweeting at 5:30 a.m. for his supporters to "check out sex tape" of a former Miss Universe.

Earlier in the day, it had been discovered that his 'charitable' foundation (that he hasn't donated money to for years, but has used its money for personal expenses repeatedly) isn't properly registered as a charity and isn't legally allowed to solicit money.

Then USA Today issued a historic anti-endorsement of Trump. They have never taken sides in a presidential race in 34 years, and the only other politician they had ever anti-endorsed is David Duke (they are not endorsing Clinton, merely anti-endorsing Trump, as presumably they are split between the other candidates). That follows the recent endorsement of Clinton by the conservative Arizona Republic, a newspaper that had never endorsed a democrat in 126 years, and likewise the Dallas Morning News (first democratic endorsement in 75 years) and Cincinnati Enquirer (first democratic endorsement in nearly 100 years) have endorsed Clinton in the last couple of weeks. Likewise the New Hampshire Union Leader, Richmond Times-Dispatch, and Tulsa World, which have all consistently endorsed Republicans for decades, decided to either endorse Gary Johnson or abstain from endorsements this election.

And then, overnight, every couple of hours or so throughout the night (when does the man sleep???), Trump went on an extended twitter rant about Miss Universe winner Alicia Machado, whom Hillary Clinton had mentioned in the debate as an example of a woman Trump had been nasty too (he called her "miss piggy" and "miss housekeeping" among other names, because she had "gotten fat" and was latino, and then fat-shamed her at a press conference).

He then proceeded to tweet throughout the night on various topics at 10pm, 3am, and then at 5-5:30am he took aim at Alicia Machado, and then at 9am reiterated his 3am complaint about the media, and at 10am complained about papers not endorsing him.
    Trump's Tweets:

5:14 a.m.: Wow, Crooked Hillary was duped and used by my worst Miss U. Hillary floated her as an "angel" without checking her past, which is terrible!

5:19 a.m.: Using Alicia M in the debate as a paragon of virtue just shows that Crooked Hillary suffers from BAD JUDGEMENT! Hillary was set up by a con.

5:30 a.m.: Did Crooked Hillary help disgusting (check out sex tape and past) Alicia M become a U.S. citizen so she could use her in the debate?

That's right, a presidential candidate, just told the world to go "check out [the] sex tape" of a miss universe winner during a midnight twitter rant.

In reality, she'd competed on a Spanish reality TV show, and she'd had sex with another contestant under bed sheets, and the show had aired a little non-explicit footage of it. Which is not what most people would regard as a "sex tape".

While I agree that Trump is unfit for office for the reasons given, I don't think there's sexism involved.

During this campaign I've found it very concerning the extent to which the Clinton machine has undermined the cause of feminism by crying wolf continuously about supposedly sexist things that do not appear to be actually sexist as far as I can see. When it was suggested that Sanders might be sexist - due to the fact that he was running against a woman in the primaries - stands out as the single most egregious example of this stupidity at its worst. But the whole general narrative of "all opposition to Hillary is sexist" has done nothing but hurt the general cause of feminism IMO, and played into the "we're so sick of political correctness" that the alt-right has going. When the cries of sexism are so over the top and unwarranted that they make me, an 'extreme' liberal, disgusted with them, then they are going way way too far and certainly not doing anyone any favors in the minds of average voters.

So, to answer the quote, no, I do not think it would have made a difference if Trump was a woman who had showed up and behaved the same way. The Right has shown a complete willingness to embrace horrible women and idiotic women from Ann Coulter to Michele Bachmann to Sarah Palin. Trump is certainly a misogynist, but I don't think it's at all true to say that his behavior has gotten a pass because he's a man - his behavior has gotten a pass from the extreme-right because they are idiots who have no standards and will cheer-lead anyone at all who is on their side.

Meanwhile, Hillary is still guilty of decades of corruption, accepting bribes through her family's "charitable" organization, placing our national security at risk for her own personal gain, and dereliction of duty as Secretary of State that resulted in the deaths of several American citizens.

The fact that she is even a viable cadidate for president tells you how screwed up things really are.

And you wonder why Americans are sick of career politicians? That's why. Their rehearsed regurgitations of canned responses. This election cycle is a choice between a tooth extraction without Novocaine and passing a sizable kidney stone. I'm going with the tooth extraction. It's less painful.

Hillary is worse than passing a kidney stone. At least with the stone, when it's over it's over. She's been a 30 plus year of passing kidney stones!

The look on Hillary's face when she lost would be almost worth it to me. The danger would be that she might try running again in 2020 and the idiots who voted for her in the primaries would be all "I'm with her!" Option (c) of she just goes away and we never have to see or hear from her again, unfortunately doesn't seem to be on the table.
