I recently ran a D&D game where the party had to talk to a pirate loosely based on Jean Lafitte named Jean Sparkeaux.

He had horrible B.O. due to refusing to wash, had a magical pegleg and hook, and any bribe that included bacon got you +2 to all his reaction rolls. I guess you can say he was more of a baconeer than buccaneer


And his first mate was actually some squirrels wearing a "hooman suit" but the party never tumbled onto that.
