Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
A Prayer for YOU an ME…
Every person alive needs to not only pray but also to be prayed for. This morning I have borrowed a prayer especially for you. “I pray that the LORD will listen when you are in trouble, and that the God of Jacob will keep you safe. May the LORD send help from his temple and come to your rescue from Mount Zion. May he remember your gifts and be pleased with what you bring. May God do what you want most and let all go well for you. Then you will win victories, and we will celebrate, while raising our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD answer all of your prayers!” (Psalm 20:1–5, CEV)
While I don’t know your specific needs, God does and that is all that counts. I do know however, first and foremost your primary need is to have a relationship with God. That is my primary need as well, therefore we are connected by our common need and as we pray for each other God will deepen and solidify our relationship with him as will our spiritual relationship.
I see prayer as one of the greatest exercises of faith because we pray to a God we can’t see and quite often it seems as if God isn’t listening. I remember one time in desperation I prayed, “God, I really need to see you and until you show up I won’t starting praying.” I needed proof God was real and I was listened to. God never appeared to me. I didn’t hear any voice. I didn’t have a vision. The only thing I felt was foolish and after several minutes to sitting very alone on the bench I repented, asked for forgiveness, and prayed.
I know you are not a king, you’ve surpassed being a king (don’t let it go to your head however) you are a child of the Living God so please feast on these final verses. “I am certain, LORD, that you will help your chosen king (that’s you). You will answer my prayers from your holy place in heaven, and you will save me with your mighty arm. Some people trust the power of chariots or horses, but we trust you, LORD God. Others will stumble and fall, but we will be strong and stand firm. Give the king (that’s you) victory, LORD, and answer our prayers.” (Psalm 20:6–9, CEV, italics mine)
Believe! Anticipate! Experience! Be transformed!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
