Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
On being present with God…
“Open for me the gates where the righteous enter, and I will go in and thank the LORD. These gates lead to the presence of the LORD, and the godly enter there. I thank you for answering my prayer and giving me victory!” (Psalm 118:19–21, NLT)
There was a time when the gates “where the righteous enter” were opened only for a select few and then only once a year. Then along comes Jesus and changes all that. In fact as the stone guarding his tomb rolled away and crashed to the ground so did the gate giving us full access to God. But you already know that because you’ve been in God’s presence. You’ve prayed and God has either been there for you directly or indirectly through a close friend or through a special scripture reading.
You may not need me to remind you that you live your life in God’s presence but we all know there are times when the “junk and static” created by a world in chaos can sometimes fill our hearts leaving us wondering where God went. I know that to be true because it is a reoccurring experience of mine and I suspect you know it to be true also because you’ve had experiences with it as well.
The day will come when all of God’s people are gathered home then the gate will once again be in place only this time its purpose will be to keep the righteous people in not keep them out. But until that day we need the Holy Spirit, the scriptures, and each other to remind us God is present with us 24/7.
In case you need a reminder this morning here’s one out of the Psalms you’ve no doubt have had experience with at some point in your life. “LORD, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor! Let them praise the LORD for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them.” (Psalm 107:28–31, NLT)
God loves you my friend! And it doesn’t get any better than that!
Anticipate! Experience! Believe! Be transformed!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
Gary
