Deeper Waters Forum Guidelines

Notice The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

Deeper Waters is founded on the belief that the Christian community has long been in the shallow end of Christianity while there are treasures of the deep waiting to be discovered. Too many in the shallow end are not prepared when they go out beyond those waters and are quickly devoured by sharks. We wish to aid Christians to equip them to navigate the deeper waters of the ocean of truth and come up with treasure in the end.

We also wish to give special aid to those often neglected, that is, the disabled community. This is especially so since our founders are both on the autism spectrum and have a special desire to reach those on that spectrum. While they are a special emphasis, we seek to help others with any disability realize that God can use them and that they are as the Psalmist says, fearfully and wonderfully made.

The Holy Spirit has done more amazing things. Never know.

    • We are at another impasse, both sides looking at the other as if they are intransigent idiots. Why? Answer: Our very discrepant views of the probability of miracles (to us, the probability of the reality of magic).

Unless we can somehow bridge this gap, our conversations are futile. I would suggest this: I am going to buy Keener's book and read it. I would encourage you guys to study how scientists do studies to confirm data. For instance, if someone claims to have been cured of pancreatic cancer by using a special herb, how would scientists confirm or deny it. However, if one believes that miracles occur outside the ability of science to investigate them, this discussion truly is hopeless.

So, you finally realize that people have different world views?
If it weren't for the Resurrection of Jesus, we'd all be in DEEP TROUBLE!

Yeah, pretty sad that his big insight after 40 pages in this thread, months on this forum, years on his own blog, and probably decades in a couple different churches is that Christians believe in miracles. Huh. Whoda thunk.

Yes, I am an intransigent idiot...

I, of course, knew that Christians and skeptics have very different world views, but I did not realize the MASSIVE discrepancy in the two views regarding the probability that any event could be due to a miracle. Unless this massive discrepancy can be bridged, we skeptics/naturalists will never believe in your miracle/magic claims, and you theists will never see them as ridiculous and preposterous, as we see them.

                Good bye.

He's making it up, which is no surprise. The earliest Christians believed that Jesus had been vindicated through the Resurrection, and this was a sign of the impending Kingdom.

Wasn't the Bible written last Thursday in English, for 21st century people?

Good grief. You really don't have a clue do you?

                      It was written on Wednesday.

It was written on Tuesday. And all at the same time. And Super ventriloquism was somehow involved. Or should I stop my joke that fundy atheists think that God should behave like Silver age Superman and save everyone from the bullets and explosions?
