If the Lucan account has any veracity, then Jesus saying two swords were enough would not be indicative of planning a rebellion and indicative of the bare minimum to meet the prophecy that was written. You can't say the Lucan account was correct in the command to buy swords but not correct in the amount of swords. Thank you for showing you're full of hot air.
We only have that text. No other Synoptic author mentions swords. If it holds a kernel of truth we are left to surmise why this figure required weapons.

I would also remark that given so many here believe him to have been god incarnate and therefore fully cognizant of what was going to happen, one might enquire why he wanted any weapons?.

Again you don't believe the text has any veracity so why do you bother? Fulfill a prophecy is the simplest reason.

Using Occam's Razor, to fulfill the prophecy, especially when Jesus said two was enough.

          What specific prophecy in Luke?

However, the question remains that if Jesus knew in advance what was going to occur why did he or his disciples need any swords?

Thinking 13 guys with two swords is enough to overthrow Rome?

It's like thinking Chuck Norris was one of the apostles there.

Which, of course, if he was, swords would be completely unnecessary.

It was not solely about overthrowing "Rome".

If the account concerning swords had any strategic purpose for the real man behind these gospel figures, then the objective was to inaugurate the kingdom of God. This would have been fully in keeping with contemporary Jewish eschatology.

How the real personage conceived this might actually be achieved remains unknown.

Because 13 guys with two swords, the kind most everyone of that day carried, would be able to do that, and we all know Jesus was a great big warmonger zealot.

Making drek up out of whole cloth appears to be what you're best at.

The Greek is μάχαιραν - a small sword or dagger. Nor do we know how pacific the real personage actually was.

Because none of us bothered to look up the word.

I didn't think of the real personage as being pacific, much more atlantic instead.

                              Mildly amusing but somewhat irrelevant.

This coming from the person who doesn't even read the text.

HA fulfills "Proclaiming themselves to be wise, they became fools."
