Unorthodox Theology 201 Guidelines

Theists only.

This forum area is primarily for persons who would identify themselves as Christians whether or not their theology is recognized within the mainstream or as orthodox though other theists may participate with moderator permission. Therefore those that would be restricted from posting in Christianity 201 due to a disagreement with the enumerated doctrines, ie the Trinity, the Creatorship of God, the virgin birth, the bodily resurrection of Christ, the atonement, the future bodily return of Christ, the future bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, and the final judgment may freely post here on any theological subject matter. In this case "unorthodox" is used in the strict sense of a person who denies what has been declared as universal essentials of the historic Christian faith. Examples would be adherents to Oneness, Full Preterists, Unitarian Universalist Christians, Gnostics, Liberal Christianity, Christian Science to name a few.

The second purpose will be for threads on subjects, which although the thread starter has no issue with the above doctrines, the subject matter is so very outside the bounds of normative Christian doctrine totally within the leadership's discretion that it is placed here. In so doing, no judgment or offense is intended to be placed on the belief of said person in the above-doctrines. In this case "unorthodox" is used in a much looser sense of "outside the norms" - Examples of such threads would be pro-polygamy, pro-drug use, proponents of gay Christian churches, proponents of abortion.

The third purpose is for persons who wish to have input from any and all who would claim the title of Christian even on subjects that would be considered "orthodox."

The philosophy behind this area was to recognize that there are persons who would identify themselves as Christian and thus seem out of place in the Comparative Religions Forum, but yet in keeping with our committment here to certain basic core Christian doctrines. Also, it allows threads to be started by those who would want to still be identified as Christian with a particular belief that while not denying an essential is of such a nature that the discussion on that issue belongs in this section or for threads by persons who wish such a non-restricted discussion.

  • "Feel Good" Preachers and "Prosperity" Preachers

What do "Feel Good" preachers and "Prosperity" preachers have in common? They're both "deceived."

Both these preachers are promoting "self satisfaction" that will deprive of their fellows of their satisfaction. Surprisingly, a lot of churches are now being moved to "satisfying" their community of believers. But believe it or not, the moral foundation of the members will collapse if the church will subject its goals/works into satisfying the members. In the end, we need knowledge of truth why "self satisfaction" is not the end goal of morality.

But how would one differentiate the "Feel Good" preachers to those preachers who merely preach "Good Promises"? Preachers who merely preach "Good Promises" ends up nothing different to the "Feel Good", nor of the "Prosperity", preachers.

So far, christian apologists are doing fine in defending theism. Yet the atheists are undeterred because Christians fail to step further in just making "Good Promises."

How would you classify Paul? Was Paul a feel good preacher?

I can face God with a clean heart, because he has made me clean. I trust His salvation.
Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

Sure anybody can trust God....but believing promises is different from knowing the revelation that was revealed by Christ.

Surely not. He was, to me, actually plain in his teaching. People just misunderstand Paul, and make vain imagination of the words that he wrote in mystery.

You have nothing but making a "good promise".

This is an obvious problem with religions. When beliefs are merely driven by feelings of satisfaction it becomes unmoved by reason. Atheists themselves, without being satisfied of their limited existence, cannot survive.

Many christians fail in their search of God because the false gospels preached by many are, in the end, simply focused on good promises towards self satisfaction. The reason the gospel is about knowing God is because people are worshiping Him for the wrong reasons and wrong intentions. And people who ask God for self satisfactions are asking amiss because they are simply asking about their fleshly desires.

The call of God to eternal life is not only to be satisfied but also to suffer. Not the suffering that we see in this world, but to suffer for the weaknesses of our fellow brethren, just as how they may suffer for our own weaknesses.

When God perfected us, it is because He would forgive us of our weaknesses. In reality, by falling into our weaknesses we will still sin; but not like the sin against the Holy Ghost. The promise unto the children of God is to eternally inhabit this earth, of which our resurrected body is no different than we have now. Does anyone of your really believe that God had put us in this earthly circumstances, and to fight off the evil of this earthly circumstances, but then resurrect us into a different unrelated realm of circumstances?

Seek the truth of the kingdom of God that is being promised to us.

Jesus said, "..Seek ye first the kingdom of God..." And Paul said, "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God." Paul was saying the same things what Jesus said: seek the kingdom of God where Christ sits on the right hand of God. What we ought to know about God is of His godhead over his kingdom; this is the reason why the gospel is also bout the kingdom of God. Without knowledge of the godhead, and of the kingdom of God, one cannot be saved.

Those who make preach mere "good promises" are actually blind of the truth, not knowing the true promises of God.

You still make no sense. So much for the kingdom of heaven being accessible to little children. It's easy to learn, difficult to master!

How does being convinced that Christ is able relate to this imaginary feeling of satisfaction? You are not making sense here.

                            Irony.

You are the one not making any sense. And you don't understand what Christ was saying either.

To be in the kingdom of God you need to be "born again." To be born again is to be in the image of God, which is attained through having a "renewed mind." Read Eph 4:8-24.

Paul said, "Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men."

I know some are totally acting childish towards God. They dare think they will be forgiven of their innocence, and not asked for a renewed mind.

That looks like a job for the Holy Spirit! Seriously, He does the mind renewing thing.
