Avram, Avraham, and the Hebrews.

The Bible says that Abraham was a Hebrew.

Does that make his descendants, Isaac and Ishmael, Hebrews as well or too?

Genesis 14:13 NASB20 - Then a survivor came and told Abram the Hebrew. Now he was residing by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner, and they were allies with Abram.

Joseph, a descendant, is also spoken of as a Hebrew. And others. These are descendants of Isaac. Being that Abram was a Hebrew, wouldn't his descendants be Hebrews as well?

Hagar became Abram's wife and bore Ishmael.

Hagar:

Genesis 16:1, 3-4, 8, 15-16 NASB20 - Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had not borne him a child, but she had an Egyptian slave woman whose name was Hagar. ... And [so] after Abram had lived ten years in the land of Canaan, Abram's wife Sarai took Hagar the Egyptian, her slave woman, and gave her to her husband Abram as his wife. Then he had relations with Hagar, and she conceived; and when [Hagar] became aware that she had conceived, her mistress was insignificant in her sight. ... He said, "Hagar, Sarai's slave woman, from where have you come, and where are you going?" And she said, "I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai." ... So Hagar bore a son to Abram; and Abram named his son, to whom Hagar gave birth, Ishmael. Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to him.

Genesis 21:9, 14, 17 NASB20 - Now Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking [Isaac.] ... So Abraham got up early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water, and gave [them] to Hagar, putting [them] on her shoulder, and [gave her] the boy, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered about in the wilderness of Beersheba. ... God heard the boy crying; and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, "What is the matter with you, Hagar? Do not fear, for God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.

Genesis 25:12 NASB20 - Now these are [the records of] the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's slave woman, bore to Abraham;

Galatians 4:24-25 NASB20 - This is speaking allegorically, for these [women] are two covenants: one [coming] from Mount Sinai giving birth to children who are to be slaves; she is Hagar. Now this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is enslaved with her children.

Ishmael:

Genesis 16:11, 15-16 NASB20 - The angel of the LORD said to her further, "Behold, you are pregnant, And you will give birth to a son; And you shall name him Ishmael, Because the LORD has heard your affliction. ... So Hagar bore a son to Abram; and Abram named his son, to whom Hagar gave birth, Ishmael. Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to him.

Genesis 17:18, 20, 23, 25-26 NASB20 - And Abraham said to God, "Oh that Ishmael might live before You!" ... "As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him, and make him fruitful and multiply him exceedingly. He shall father twelve princes, and I will make him into a great nation. ... Then Abraham took his son Ishmael, and all [the slaves] who were born in his house and all who were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's household, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin on this very same day, as God had said to him. ... And his son Ishmael was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. On this very same day Abraham was circumcised, as well as his son Ishmael.

Genesis 21:11 NASB20 - The matter distressed Abraham greatly because of his son [Ishmael.]

Genesis 25:9, 12-13, 16-17 NASB20 - Then his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, facing Mamre, ... Now these are [the records of] the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's slave woman, bore to Abraham; and these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, in the order of their birth: Nebaioth, the firstborn of Ishmael, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, ... These are the sons of Ishmael and these are their names, by their villages, and by their camps; twelve princes according to their tribes. These are the years of the life of Ishmael, 137 years; and he breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people.

Genesis 28:9 NASB20 - and Esau went to Ishmael, and married, besides the wives that he had, Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham's son, the sister of Nebaioth.

1 Chronicles 1:28-29, 31 NASB20 - The sons of Abraham [were] Isaac and Ishmael. These are their genealogies: the firstborn of Ishmael [was] Nebaioth, then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, ... Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah; these [were] the sons of Ishmael.

There are other people who have been named Ishmael in the Bible as well. But this is the first son of Abram (Abraham).

Abram (Abraham) then bore Isaac to Sarai (Sarah).

Sarai:

Genesis 11:29-31 NASB20 - Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves. The name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife was Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and Iscah. Sarai was unable to conceive; she did not have a child. Now Terah took his son Abram, and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram's wife, and they departed together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan; and they went as far as Haran and settled there.

Genesis 12:5, 11, 17 NASB20 - Abram took his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot, and all their possessions which they had accumulated, and the people which they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan; so they came to the land of Canaan. ... It came about, when he was approaching Egypt, that he said to his wife Sarai, "See now, I know that you are a beautiful woman; ... But the LORD struck Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife.

Genesis 16:1-3, 5-6, 8 NASB20 - Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had not borne him a child, but she had an Egyptian slave woman whose name was Hagar. So Sarai said to Abram, "See now, the LORD has prevented me from bearing [children.] Please have relations with my slave woman; perhaps I will obtain children through her." And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai. And [so] after Abram had lived ten years in the land of Canaan, Abram's wife Sarai took Hagar the Egyptian, her slave woman, and gave her to her husband Abram as his wife. ... So Sarai said to Abram, "May the wrong done to me be upon you! I put my slave woman into your arms, but when she saw that she had conceived, I was insignificant in her sight. May the LORD judge between you and me." But Abram said to Sarai, "Look, your slave woman is in your power; do to her what is good in your sight." So Sarai treated her harshly, and she fled from her presence. ... He said, "Hagar, Sarai's slave woman, from where have you come, and where are you going?" And she said, "I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai."

Genesis 17:15 NASB20 - Then God said to Abraham, "As for your wife Sarai, you shall not call her [by] the name Sarai, but Sarah [shall be] her name.

Sarah:

Genesis 17:15, 17, 19, 21 NASB20 - Then God said to Abraham, "As for your wife Sarai, you shall not call her [by] the name Sarai, but Sarah [shall be] her name. ... Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, "Will a child be born to a man a hundred years old? And will Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth [to a child?]" ... But God said, "No, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you shall name him Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. ... "But I will establish My covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this season next year."

Genesis 18:6, 9-15 NASB20 - So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah, and said, "Quickly, prepare three measures of fine flour, knead [it,] and make bread cakes." ... Then they said to him, "Where is your wife Sarah?" And he said, "There, in the tent." He said, "I will certainly return to you at this time next year; and behold, your wife Sarah will have a son." And Sarah was listening at the tent door, which was behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in age; Sarah was past childbearing. So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, "After I have become old, am I to have pleasure, my lord being old also?" But the LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, 'Shall I actually give birth [to a child,] when I am [so] old?' "Is anything too difficult for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son." Sarah denied [it,] however, saying, "I did not laugh"; for she was afraid. And He said, "No, but you did laugh."

Genesis 20:2, 14, 16, 18 NASB20 - And Abraham said of his wife Sarah, "She is my sister." So Abimelech king of Gerar sent [men] and took Sarah. ... Abimelech then took sheep and oxen and male and female servants, and gave them to Abraham, and returned his wife Sarah to him. ... To Sarah he said, "Look, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver. It is your vindication before all who are with you, and before everyone you are cleared." ... For the LORD had completely closed all the wombs of the household of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham's wife.

Genesis 21:1-3, 6-7, 9, 12 NASB20 - Then the LORD took note of Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did for Sarah as He had promised. So Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him. Abraham named his son who was born to him, the son whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac. ... Sarah said, "God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh with me." And she said, "Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have given birth to a son in his old age." ... Now Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking [Isaac.] ... But God said to Abraham, "Do not be distressed because of the boy and your slave woman; whatever Sarah tells you, listen to her, for through Isaac your descendants shall be named.

Genesis 23:1-2, 19 NASB20 - Now Sarah lived 127 years; [these were] the years of the life of Sarah. Sarah died in Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan; and Abraham came in to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her. ... After this, Abraham buried his wife Sarah in the cave of the field of Machpelah facing Mamre (that is, Hebron), in the land of Canaan.

Genesis 24:36 NASB20 - "Now my master's wife Sarah bore a son to my master in her old age, and he has given him all that he has.

Genesis 25:10 NASB20 - the field which Abraham purchased from the sons of Heth; there Abraham was buried with his wife Sarah.

Genesis 49:31 NASB20 - "There they buried Abraham and his wife Sarah, there they buried Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and there I buried Leah--

Isaiah 51:2 NASB20 - "Look to Abraham your father And to Sarah who gave birth to you in pain; When [he] [was only] one I called him, Then I blessed him and multiplied him."

Romans 9:9 NASB20 - For this is the word of promise: "AT THIS TIME I WILL COME, AND SARAH WILL HAVE A SON."

Hebrews 11:11 NASB20 - By faith even Sarah herself received ability to conceive, even beyond [the] proper time of life, since she considered Him faithful who had promised.

1 Peter 3:6 NASB20 - just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; and you have proved to be her children if you do what is right without being frightened by any fear.

Isaac:

Genesis 17:19, 21 NASB20 - But God said, "No, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you shall name him Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. ... "But I will establish My covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this season next year."

Genesis 21:3-5, 8-10, 12 NASB20 - Abraham named his son who was born to him, the son whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac. Then Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him. Now Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. ... And the child grew and was weaned, and Abraham held a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned. Now Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking [Isaac.] Therefore she said to Abraham, "Drive out this slave woman and her son, for the son of this slave woman shall not be an heir with my son Isaac!" ... But God said to Abraham, "Do not be distressed because of the boy and your slave woman; whatever Sarah tells you, listen to her, for through Isaac your descendants shall be named.

Genesis 22:2-3, 6-7, 9 NASB20 - Then He said, "Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you." So Abraham got up early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him and his son Isaac; and he split wood for the burnt offering, and set out and went to the place of which God had told him. ... And Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it on his son Isaac, and he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So the two of them walked on together. Isaac spoke to his father Abraham and said, "My father!" And he said, "Here I am, my son." And he said, "Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" ... Then they came to the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood, and bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood.

Genesis 24:4, 14, 62-64, 66-67 NASB20 - but you will go to my country and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son Isaac." ... now may it be that the young woman to whom I say, 'Please let down your jar so that I may drink,' and who answers, 'Drink, and I will water your camels also'--[may] she [be the one] whom You have appointed for Your servant Isaac; and by this I will know that You have shown kindness to my master." ... Now Isaac had come [back] from a journey to Beer-lahai-roi; for he was living in the Negev. Isaac went out to meditate in the field toward evening; and he raised his eyes and looked, and behold, camels were coming. Rebekah raised her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she dismounted from the camel. ... The servant told Isaac all the things that he had done. It came about after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac lived by Beer-lahai-roi. ... Genesis 26:1, 6, 8-9, 12, 16-18, 20, 27, 31, 35 NASB20 - Now there was a famine in the land, besides the previous famine that had occurred in the days of Abraham. So Isaac went to Gerar, to Abimelech king of the Philistines. ... So Isaac lived in Gerar. ... Now it came about, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked down through a window, and saw [them,] and behold, Isaac was caressing his wife Rebekah. Then Abimelech called Isaac and said, "Behold, she certainly is your wife! So how [is it that] you said, 'She is my sister'?" And Isaac said to him, "Because I thought, 'otherwise I might be killed on account of her.'" ... Now Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundred times [as much.] And the LORD blessed him, ... Then Abimelech said to Isaac, "Go away from us, for you are too powerful for us." So Isaac departed from there and camped in the Valley of Gerar, and settled there. Then Isaac dug again the wells of water which had been dug in the days of his father Abraham, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham; and he gave them the same names which his father had given them. ... the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with the herdsmen of Isaac, saying, "The water is ours!" So he named the well Esek, because they argued with him. ... Isaac said to them, "Why have you come to me, since you hate me and have sent me away from you?" ... In the morning they got up early and exchanged oaths; then Isaac sent them away, and they left him in peace. ... and they brought grief to Isaac and Rebekah.

Genesis 27:1-2, 5, 20-22, 26, 30 NASB20 - Now it came about, when Isaac was old and his eyes were too dim to see, that he called his older son Esau and said to him, "My son." And he said to him, "Here I am." Then Isaac said, "Behold now, I am old [and] I do not know the day of my death. ... Now Rebekah was listening while Isaac spoke to his son Esau. So when Esau went to the field to hunt for game to bring [home,] ... Isaac said to his son, "How is it that you have [it] so quickly, my son?" And he said, "Because the LORD your God made [it] come to me." Then Isaac said to Jacob, "Please come close, so that I may feel you, my son, whether you are really my son Esau or not." So Jacob came close to his father Isaac, and he touched him and said, "The voice is the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Esau." ... Then his father Isaac said to him, "Please come close and kiss me, my son." ... Now it came about, as soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and Jacob had hardly gone out from the presence of his father Isaac, that his brother Esau came in from his hunting.

Genesis 27:32-33, 37, 39, 46 NASB20 - His father Isaac said to him, "Who are you?" And he said, "I am your son, your firstborn, Esau." Then Isaac trembled violently, and said, "Who then was he who hunted game and brought [it] to me, so that I ate from all [of it] before you came, and blessed him? Yes, [and] he shall be blessed." ... But Isaac replied to Esau, "Behold, I have made him your master, and I have given to him all his relatives as servants; and with grain and new wine I have sustained him. What then can I do for you, my son?" ... Then his father Isaac answered and said to him, "Behold, away from the fertility of the earth shall be your dwelling, And away from the dew of heaven from above. ... And Rebekah said to Isaac, "I am tired of living because of the daughters of Heth; if Jacob takes a wife from the daughters of Heth like these from the daughters of the land, what good will my life be to me?"

Genesis 28:1, 5-6, 8, 13 NASB20 - So Isaac called Jacob and blessed him and commanded him, saying to him, "You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan. ... Then Isaac sent Jacob away, and he went to Paddan-aram to Laban, son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau. Now Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Paddan-aram to take to himself a wife from there, [and that] when he blessed him he commanded him, saying, "You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan," ... So Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan displeased his father Isaac; ... Then behold, the LORD was standing above it and said, "I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and to your descendants.

Genesis 31:18, 42, 53 NASB20 - and he drove away all his livestock and all his property which he had acquired, the livestock he possessed which he had acquired in Paddan-aram, to go to the land of Canaan to his father Isaac. ... "If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the fear of Isaac, had not been for me, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed. God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, so He rendered judgment last night." ... "The God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us." So Jacob swore by the fear of his father Isaac.

Genesis 32:9 NASB20 - Then Jacob said, "God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, LORD, who said to me, 'Return to your country and to your relatives, and I will make you prosper,'

Genesis 35:12, 27-29 NASB20 - "And the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give to you, And I will give the land to your descendants after you." ... Jacob came to his father Isaac at Mamre of Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had resided. Now the days of Isaac were 180 years. Then Isaac breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people, an old man of ripe age; and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.

Genesis 46:1 NASB20 - So Israel set out with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

Genesis 48:15-16 NASB20 - And he blessed Joseph, and said, "The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, The God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day, The angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless the boys; And may my name live on in them, And the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; And may they grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth."

Genesis 49:31 NASB20 - "There they buried Abraham and his wife Sarah, there they buried Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and there I buried Leah--

Genesis 50:24 NASB20 - Joseph said to his brothers, "I am about to die, but God will assuredly take care of you and bring you up from this land to the land which He promised on oath to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob."

Exodus 2:24 NASB20 - So God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Exodus 3:6, 15-16 NASB20 - And He said, "I am the God of your father--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." Then Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. ... Exodus 4:5 NASB20 - "so that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you."

Exodus 6:3, 8 NASB20 - and I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as God Almighty, but [by] My name, LORD, I did not make Myself known to them. ... 'I will bring you to the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you [as] a possession; I am the LORD.'"

Exodus 32:13 NASB20 - "Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants to whom You swore by Yourself, and said to them, 'I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heavens, and all this land of which I have spoken I will give to your descendants, and they shall inherit [it] forever.'"

Exodus 33:1 NASB20 - Then the LORD spoke to Moses, "Depart, go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought up from the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, 'To your descendants I will give it.'

Leviticus 26:42 NASB20 - then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and I will remember also My covenant with Isaac, and My covenant with Abraham as well, and I will remember the land.

Numbers 32:11 NASB20 - 'None of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; for they did not follow Me fully,

'Remember Your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; do not turn Your attention to the stubbornness of this people, or to their wickedness, or their sin.

Deuteronomy 29:13 NASB20 - in order that He may establish you today as His people, and that He may be your God, just as He spoke to you and as He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Deuteronomy 30:20 NASB20 - by loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding close to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, so that you may live in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them."

Deuteronomy 34:4 NASB20 - Then the LORD said to him, "This is the land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, 'I will give it to your descendants'; I have let you see [it] with your eyes, but you will not go over there."

Joshua 24:3-4 NASB20 - 'Then I took your father Abraham from beyond the [Euphrates] River and led him through all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his descendants and gave him Isaac. Ishmael was made a great nation. This has nothing to do with Islam. But I don't know how to comment. Maybe someone with actual knowledge could step in, even if it is the scriptures that I can see.
