Let's look at this from the flip-side. You (Mormons) allege that the church became apostate within the first couple centuries of its existence. However, the church has consistently believed that "Jesus Christ is come in the flesh" and is thus, per your interpretation, of God. How can something which is "of God" be apostate?

My usages of the passage is within the bounds of how it is used. Did Moroni ever teach that Jesus did not come in the flesh? Does the Book of Mormon teach that Jesus did not come in the flesh? The answer is no to both questions. You will notice that I never suggest that because the Book of Mormon simply says that Jesus came in the flesh that it is true or that since Moroni is for the premise that Jesus came in the flesh that he existed. A liar, a false teacher can hold the view that Jesus came in the flesh. The point is can a Satan or a demon hold to that position. The reading I get form this

1 John 4:2-3: "Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God"

I will take from your answer that the answer is yes. A demon can confess that Jesus is come in the flesh.

Also even an apostate church in the LDS view can teach truth and those truths that they teach do come from God.

Which is why your church knows nothing about what apostasy really is

Why couldn't it? Since when can a demon not state the truth in some matter if doing so serves its purpose? The demons Jesus cast out had no trouble identifying him correctly.

You are almost certainly not the only person who indulges in such jejunity (I guess that's not a real word). A lot of names can be laughed at, especially when people go into "Beavis and Butthead" mode. Comedians and sit-coms and cartoons have been capitalizing on that tendency for a long time.

All it takes is a modicum of imagination or cleverness, and "Jerry Falwell" can be turned into a joke, as can "Billy Graham" or even "Jesus."

Lamely played, IMO. I wish there were a gif of a green trashcan, to be used when someone recycles

Sure, but when you name your messenger Moroni you've long since passed "can be turned into a joke" and went straight to "you know you're asking for it, right?".

The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

To be fair, I don't think "moron" was a word back when Smith came up with "moroni"

From what I recall, the first known use of "moron" was very early 1900's, so, yeah!

Fair enough. The greek word that it was derived from did exist before that though.
