Are the verses in the Quran about self-defense or about unprovoked attack on J/C?

I do wonder in Christianity when people talk about their conversion experiences, some talk about an overwhelming sense of love that they feel. Is this a giving into love, such as when a person cries? Or, is it something different? Alas, I have deviated from the topic. I guess I am comparing.
