Comparative Religions 101 Guidelines

Welcome to Comp Religions, this is where the sights and sounds of the many world religions come together in a big World's Fair type atmosphere, without those delicious funnel cakes.

World Religions is a theist only type place, but that does not exclude certain religionists who practice non-theistic faiths ala Buddhism. If you are not sure, ask a moderator.

This is not a place where we argue the existence / non-existence of God.

  • Can One Man Die for the sins of Others?

In the spirit of Good Friday and Easter 2020, when we remember the vicarious sacrifices made by Jesus Christ the Word of God (Logos). It is entirely pertinent to the situation of 'lockdowns' today from the Covid-19 pandemic affecting the whole world. Now, the whole world needs to practically make major sacrifices too, in order to 'flatten the curve' and help stop the spread of the pandemic.

But the biggest sacrifice of all is that of the sacrifice of the crucifixion, death and subsequent resurrection of the Messiah Jesus, over 2,000 years ago at the Golgotha Hill outside the Jewish city Jerusalem. The act and event was spoken of and foretold by Jesus Himself to His disciples, apostle and his friends.

This question Can One Man Die for the sins of Others? is asked by muslims who are either curious or skeptical on Theologyweb, so we are going to let 2 PhD doctors, Dr.Wood and Dr.Brown, to answer the question, here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCtKO-8GqLc

    Then you will understand why the act of the substitutionary and vicarious sacrifice was the mission of Jesus Christ during His first descent into the world, per His very own words declared by Him over 2,000 years ago;

"For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give / sacrifice His life as a (vicarious) sacrifice for many."

    Matthew 20v28.

Or I think more accurately, "as a ransom for many", and we know that someone can pay a ransom for someone else.

    Blessings,
    Lee
"What I pray of you is, to keep your eye upon Him, for that is everything. Do you say, 'How am I to keep my eye on Him?' I reply, keep your eye off everything else, and you will soon see Him. All depends on the eye of faith being kept on Him. How simple it is!" (J.B. Stoney)

Yes that is the clip referred to by Dr David Wood, thanks Chrawnus and Christian3.

So there's also the teaching of others bearing & taking the punishment of muslims in islam.

Either muslims are kept intentionally ignorant about this, or they are hiding these facts from others. Both actions are intellectually dishonest.

Absolutely, Lee, and in Matthew 20v28 the Lord Jesus Christ was refering to himself as the One paying that ransom for all the others. One perfect, sinless Man for many sinful creatures.

On this Easter Sunday, Christ's resurrection confirms Almighty God's full acceptance and approval of the vicarious sacrifice of Jesus Christ and his victorious redemption for the entire human family! Said He:-

"No one takes my life from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again."

              John 10v18

Blessings of Easter, there is REAL Hope, you all!

Dan, isn't it interesting that no Muslim has responded to your subject?

                  Amen Christian3, indeed so!

Muslims deny the redemptive, vicarious death of Jesus Christ for the whole of humanity, one Person dying for the sins of others per Matthew 20:28, Romans 5:7-8, John 3:16 etc.

But orthodox islam itself, teaches and promotes the doctrine of one group of people bearing the burdens and sins of others.

That is, Christians & Jews paying for the sins and burdens of Muslims on judgement day. God sending Christians to hell so that Muslims may enter into paradise!

Muslims will find themselves contradicting and denying their own orthodox sources if they did that, as Dr.David Wood clearly pointed out.

Maybe you would get some replies from Muslims if you had your topic moved to Islam?

THIS is the YouTube link that shows how Islam also teaches other people will pay the sins for the guilty sinners on judgement Day..:

                          https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...ature=emb_logo

If the islamic scholars and teachers really checked and examine their islamic sources, AND honestly teach the whole and not just selectively in bits and pieces, Islam is going to collapse and crumble like what is happening already today.

...even a Christian would have to answer NO to that question....
remember "Deicide"---the Christian accusation of "killing God" laid at the door of the Jews? ....God (not man) has to "die" in order to atone for the sins of humanity......?......
