In the spirit of Good Friday and Easter 2020, when we remember the vicarious sacrifices made by Jesus Christ the Word of God (Logos). It is entirely pertinent to the situation of 'lockdowns' today from the Covid-19 pandemic affecting the whole world. Now, the whole world needs to practically make major sacrifices too, in order to 'flatten the curve' and help stop the spread of the pandemic.
But the biggest sacrifice of all is that of the sacrifice of the crucifixion, death and subsequent resurrection of the Messiah Jesus, over 2,000 years ago at the Golgotha Hill outside the Jewish city Jerusalem. The act and event was spoken of and foretold by Jesus Himself to His disciples, apostle and his friends.

Then you will understand why the act of the substitutionary and vicarious sacrifice was the mission of Jesus Christ during His first descent into the world, per His very own words declared by Him over 2,000 years ago;
"For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give / sacrifice His life as a (vicarious) sacrifice for many."
Matthew 20v28.
