Apologetics 301 Guidelines

If you think this is the area where you tell everyone you are sorry for eating their lunch out of the fridge, it probably isn't the place for you

This forum is open discussion between atheists and all theists to defend and debate their views on religion or non-religion. Please respect that this is a Christian-owned forum and refrain from gratuitous blasphemy. VERY wide leeway is given in range of expression and allowable behavior as compared to other areas of the forum, and moderation is not overly involved unless necessary. Please keep this in mind. Atheists who wish to interact with theists in a way that does not seek to undermine theistic faith may participate in the World Religions Department. Non-debate question and answers and mild and less confrontational discussions can take place in General Theistics.

I was originally (many years ago now - I first joined when the site was quite new) interested in the Apologetics. But the discussions there were not really ones, for the most part, that I could approach. Plus the shotgun pattern of posts was very off putting. I would rather a one on one discussion.
Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

I'll answer this one: I genuinely enjoy discussing deeper topics, even with people who might disagree with me. This site certainly is more 'gentle' than most but even here I find the 'static' of human nastiness too much for me. That's a bit of a shame. I have bipolar disorder type 2 and I am easily tipped into depression by insult and nastiness. Yes I know this site is better than most but it is my cross to bear that I am over-sensitive to that sort of thing. I must protect my mental health so I choose to restrict my involvement. I find there are very few threads that I can take part in. I think the 'combat' model adhered to by many posters is detrimental to true dialogue. Just my opinion.

And, quite honestly, guys like you make me rethink my responses, and you are a good influence on me! Which is why I enjoy having you (and guys like Adrift) around.

To be here before CP made it

I'm always still in trouble again

"You're by far the worst poster on TWeb" and "TWeb's biggest liar" --starlight (the guy who says Stalin was a right-winger)
"Overall I would rate the withdrawal from Afghanistan as by far the best thing Biden's done" --Starlight

My mistake. For some reason I thought this thread was about why we joined Tweb rather than why we're posting in this thread

It isn't my fault that the London Sun had those page 3 girls

                    And bacon. Thread won.

We love you even though you are defective.

That was not intended as unkind. I have been called bipolar as well.

JPH made me do it. And since it's discussions on TheologyWeb that facilitated my conversion to Orthodoxy, I blame him for that too.

A YEC church presentation and a random image search for flying fish led me to Answers in Genesis, which linked to articles from Tekton and Glenn Miller's Christian Think Tank. Tekton linked here. It looked like a fun place to talk religion and the people looked cool.

O Gladsome Light of the Holy Glory of the Immortal Father, Heavenly, Holy, Blessed Jesus Christ! Now that we have come to the setting of the sun and behold the light of evening, we praise God Father, Son and Holy Spirit. For meet it is at all times to worship Thee with voices of praise. O Son of God and Giver of Life, therefore all the world doth glorify Thee.

I was a writer at a magazine that did an interview with Dee Dee just after she started T-Web. Been here ever since.
