Apologetics 301 Guidelines

If you think this is the area where you tell everyone you are sorry for eating their lunch out of the fridge, it probably isn't the place for you

This forum is open discussion between atheists and all theists to defend and debate their views on religion or non-religion. Please respect that this is a Christian-owned forum and refrain from gratuitous blasphemy. VERY wide leeway is given in range of expression and allowable behavior as compared to other areas of the forum, and moderation is not overly involved unless necessary. Please keep this in mind. Atheists who wish to interact with theists in a way that does not seek to undermine theistic faith may participate in the World Religions Department. Non-debate question and answers and mild and less confrontational discussions can take place in General Theistics.

  • YES ... evolution is a religion.

Y'all just believe what the priesthood of white coated science says. You haven't done the math for yourself. You are just in lockstep agreement with those who validate your worldview.

That's fine by me, whatevs ... But for the love of Pete, just admit it.

      Um... okay.

I don't know if I can even try to rebut this because Apologetics 301 is exclusively theist vs. nontheist and by implication I shouldn't be going up against another theist.
"I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

White-coated "scientists." Also, the lack of semi-colons in your discussion of our belief system is rank heresy, and is more than sufficient reason for getting you stoned.*

        *Obviously, now redundant in Colorado.

As a hybrid kind of theistic evolutionist/Genesis 1 & creationist/Genesis 2, it is certainly a belief in my religion, I'd agree with that.

Have you been introduced to DNA? Very simply speaking, change in sequence results in change in structure (of proteins) which results in change (or rate) of function. This is being used by high school students in competitions every year. The material is readily available for anyone 'to do the math.' While evolution can certainly have theological implications, for some individuals, it is by no means a religion. It seems that your statement is from the purview of not wanting to do the math because of the theological implications that it would mean to you.

Isn't that what religion is about - to believe the scriptures? And the priests - white coated or not?

Or, let me present an alternative: Could religion be about spiritual life and all that might entail?

I can't remember even reading a neutral statement like "love your neighbour" in any science book, and I have read many. How odd.

                      What?
Actually YOU put Trump in the White House. He wouldn't have gotten 1% of the vote if it wasn't for the widespread spiritual and cultural devastation caused by progressive policies. There's no "this country" left with your immigration policies, your "allies" are worthless and even more suicidal than you are and democracy is a sick joke that I hope nobody ever thinks about repeating when the current order collapses. - Darth_Executor striking a conciliatory note in Civics 101

You're not going up against another theist, you're going up against Trout. Or am I missing something?

I think it is meant to be a discussion of how some people's approach to evolutionary faith is identical to some people's approach to religious faith.
As such, in my opinion it has nothing to do with the theory itself.

The theory could be 100% undeniably true or 100% undeniably false and it wouldn't change the topic.
