Apologetics 301 Guidelines

If you think this is the area where you tell everyone you are sorry for eating their lunch out of the fridge, it probably isn't the place for you

This forum is open discussion between atheists and all theists to defend and debate their views on religion or non-religion. Please respect that this is a Christian-owned forum and refrain from gratuitous blasphemy. VERY wide leeway is given in range of expression and allowable behavior as compared to other areas of the forum, and moderation is not overly involved unless necessary. Please keep this in mind. Atheists who wish to interact with theists in a way that does not seek to undermine theistic faith may participate in the World Religions Department. Non-debate question and answers and mild and less confrontational discussions can take place in General Theistics.

    Hmmm.... atheists do not exist!
Actually YOU put Trump in the White House. He wouldn't have gotten 1% of the vote if it wasn't for the widespread spiritual and cultural devastation caused by progressive policies. There's no "this country" left with your immigration policies, your "allies" are worthless and even more suicidal than you are and democracy is a sick joke that I hope nobody ever thinks about repeating when the current order collapses. - Darth_Executor striking a conciliatory note in Civics 101

I don't think Jesus was an atheist.
Of course, I never read any of his later material.

Nothing like an appeal to physics to kill a discussion.

You're dealing with a fundy atheist, a lot they say can kill a discussion.

Yep, they all start out as nice Baptist boys and girls until they find a Mad Magazine along side the road. After a couple of nights of reading that garbage they move onto heavier stuff, first a bit of Kurt Vonnegut and then onto the hard core stuff: Sagan, Hitchens, Dawkins. After that the drugs, the sex, and the rock and roll wear away at their moral compass until at last, in a boozy fog they invoke the powers of their narcotic gods and commence the ritual sacrifice of virgin theology discussions.

“Fundy Atheist” is a myth put about by fundy Christians. Remember brothers that we are all fellow atheists with respect to the majority of god’s that men have invented to understand the world. Let’s get the discussion going.

False. The term has even been used by atheists to describe themselves. For more watch this.

You obviously have no idea what I believe, and you have also prove that discussion with you is rather pointless.

If I had to listen to the "gerbil" blather on about Jesus I too would deny my intellect and better judgement and embrace atheism.

Can I claim that we're all basically fellow anti-scientists because for every scientific theory that succeeds there are dozens that have been proven wrong?

BTW, most Christians believe that there are millions of 'principalities and powers' above mankind, any one of which that could pass for a god, so I wouldn't be comfortable claiming that other gods (from the human perspective) don't exist. We'd label them false gods, but hold that they exist in one form or another.

Given your lack of intellect and better judgment denying their existence would be rather easy to do.

If someone is a theist, they are not an atheist in any sense of the term.

Holding is, of course, biased. Atheism is simply the position that all deities do not exist outside the human imagination. The imagined deity does however affect human behaviour. The atheist activist is mostly interested in ensuring that that behaviour is not detrimental to the society generally. The problem being that the deist imagines an authority above the civil law that gives him permission to do stupid things and indulge in bigotry and so on.

Everyone is, of course, biased. But that doesn't change that fact that it was not Christians who originally coined the term. It means atheists who have the same mindset of fundy Christians.
