Apologetics 301 Guidelines
If you think this is the area where you tell everyone you are sorry for eating their lunch out of the fridge, it probably isn't the place for you
This forum is open discussion between atheists and all theists to defend and debate their views on religion or non-religion. Please respect that this is a Christian-owned forum and refrain from gratuitous blasphemy. VERY wide leeway is given in range of expression and allowable behavior as compared to other areas of the forum, and moderation is not overly involved unless necessary. Please keep this in mind. Atheists who wish to interact with theists in a way that does not seek to undermine theistic faith may participate in the World Religions Department. Non-debate question and answers and mild and less confrontational discussions can take place in General Theistics.

And this brings us to today's lesson: The proper way to gird one's loins.

And don't ever let it be said that I discriminate against the wimmenfolk...

I'm always still in trouble again

He was CLEARLY opposed to the corrupt system that existed. On that, we agree.
That he was in any way installing a new system is entirely speculation on your part.
He was campaigning against the corruption, greed, hypocrisy of a very wicked Jewish leadership.
He wanted to progress far from that back to the proper social system without the Priesthood's and Temple scams,
'I will have mercy and not sacrifice'
He actually COUNTERED Moses' positions on several occasions.

It's in the gospels.

So, did you ever answer my question - "are you a follower of Jesus"?
And to be clear, "do you claim to be a Christian?"

As a Galilean working man he was totally against the local taxation....it was very very hard indeed.
Studies outside the bible strongly suggest that, and since I don't believe that the boatmen of the lake were mild meek gentle-folks looking up to heaven but very hardened toughs (to survive) I feel confident to suggest that they needed scams for survival. Their night run down the Gadarenes is a joy to read..... where the pagans were...and all those pigs which they would have eaten. THey went down there to deal with them...no doubt in my mind. The lake had huge catfish in it which would often have got caught up in their nets, which they couldn't sell to Jews (carrion eaters), so any sensible boatmen would take them to sell to the pagans...night runs.
Have you seen how oppressive the taxation in Galilee and around the lake was? Really wicked. Zebedee must have been very very clever, and very very tough to survive.
I'll answer your other points next post.

Socialism is when the government decides that it needs to step in and force "sharing" by taking away (taxing) the rich and giving to the poor in order to make everyone equally poor, while keeping a lion's share for those who do the governing. Nobody here is against caring and sharing voluntarily. That is not "socialism" that is "charity"
We don't need no stinking government to do it for us.
All those defence military ships, planes and guns 'n stuff.
All those nice strong roads.
All those local services like taking waste away, cleaning streets, etc etc.
Police forces, Country, State and Federal all.
All those State schools and education establishments.
The Public hospitals and surgeries (if you have those).
All those social support services like child protection etc.
All those protective establishments like your Federal Drugs Agency (?)
Country and State properties to let to folks (?)
Benefit and support for the disabled, the elderly and unemployed.
It goes on....and on......... and you and your neighbours benefit from it all.
Now which bits do you think that Jesus or Baptist would have hated?
Which do you hate?
