Ecclesiology 201 Guidelines

Discussion on matters of general mainstream Christian churches. What are the differences between Catholics and protestants? How has the charismatic movement affected the church? Are Southern baptists different from fundamentalist baptists? It is also for discussions about the nature of the church.

This forum is primarily for Christians to discuss matters of Christian doctrine, and is not the area for debate between atheists (or those opposing orthodox Christianity) and theists. Inquiring atheists (or sincere seekers/doubters/unorthodox) seeking only Christian participation and having demonstrated a manner that does not seek to undermine the orthodox Christian faith of others are also welcome, but must seek Moderator permission first. When defining “Christian” for purposes of this section, we mean persons holding to the core essentials of the historic Christian faith such as the Trinity, the Creatorship of God, the virgin birth, the bodily resurrection of Christ, the atonement, the future bodily return of Christ, the future bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, and the final judgment. Persons not holding to these core doctrines are welcome to participate in the Comparative Religions section without restriction, in Theology 201 as regards to the nature of God and salvation with limited restrictions, and in Christology for issues surrounding the person of Christ and the Trinity. Atheists are welcome to discuss and debate these issues in the Apologetics 301 forum without such restrictions. Additionally, there may be some topics that within the Moderator's discretion fall so outside the bounds of mainstream orthodox doctrine that may be more appropriately placed within Comparative Religions 101.

And a question on whether or not the reporter is reporting accurately. Since I thought I heard that the media is doing a poor job of accurately reporting the current Pope.

Pope Francis 'tells sinner she should be allowed Communion'
In apparent break from Catholic teaching, Pope is said to have phoned remarried Argentine Jacqui Lisbona to say 'nothing wrong' in her taking Holy Communion

A run-down on the issue by a well-known Catholic blogger.
    Don't call it a comeback. It's a riposte.

Mainstream journalists are the scum of the Earth. Literally all they've done since Pope Francis was elected is twist his words around to support their liberal agenda. So...no, not reliable.

Dee Dee was strangled by the pope's death squads before she could finish her post. The reply button only got hit because she accidentally clicked on it while flailing wildly.

There's a sub-genre of essays in the Catholic blogosphere oriented around pointing out precedents for Francis' words in things Benedict XVI said or wrote.

I still hold to my position that mainstream journalists are scum, though.

Also, "spraining away to do"? Heh, that's pretty ironic.

There are some things that sound "off" here. Including the Churches stance on anullments. I'm sure that it was quite valid when the only court was the church court, but its merely not that way anymore, not to mention there is more than what the church has to say at stake in some cases. At any rate, I don't think the RCC has the final say as to which marriage was valid or not. Plus anullment privileges are often abused.

My first marriage was annulled after she admitted to committing adultery. So, I can concur that it is abused.

Before Francis (circa the death of Mother Theresa), I lost any expectation of the MSM reliably reporting religion from a conservative view point. I just read an article about Pope Francis that read more like a liberal fantasy of what was happening and would happen than what is.
