Christianity 201 Guidelines

orthodox Christians only.

Discussion on matters of general mainstream evangelical Christian theology that do not fit within Theology 201. Have some spiritual gifts ceased today? Is the KJV the only viable translation for the church today? In what sense are the books of the bible inspired and what are those books? Church government? Modern day prophets and apostles?

This forum is primarily for Christians to discuss matters of Christian doctrine, and is not the area for debate between atheists (or those opposing orthodox Christianity) and Christians. Inquiring atheists (or sincere seekers/doubters/unorthodox) seeking only Christian participation and having demonstrated a manner that does not seek to undermine the orthodox Christian faith of others are also welcome, but must seek Moderator permission first. When defining “Christian” or "orthodox" for purposes of this section, we mean persons holding to the core essentials of the historic Christian faith such as the Trinity, the Creatorship of God, the virgin birth, the bodily resurrection of Christ, the atonement, the future bodily return of Christ, the future bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, and the final judgment. Persons not holding to these core doctrines are welcome to participate in the Comparative Religions section without restriction, in Theology 201 as regards to the nature of God and salvation with limited restrictions, and in Christology for issues surrounding the person of Christ and the Trinity. Atheists are welcome to discuss and debate these issues in the Apologetics 301 forum without such restrictions.

Additionally and rarely, there may be some topics or lines of discussion that within the Moderator's discretion fall so outside the bounds of mainstream orthodox doctrine (in general Christian circles or in the TheologyWeb community) or that deny certain core values that are the Christian convictions of forum leadership that may be more appropriately placed within Unorthodox Theology 201. NO personal offense should be taken by such discretionary decision for none is intended. While inerrancy is NOT considered a requirement for posting in this section, a general respect for the Bible text and a respect for the inerrantist position of others is requested.

The Tweb rules apply here like they do everywhere at Tweb, if you haven't read them, now would be a good time.

  • Benny Hinn SICK!

I am not sure if this is the right place for this thread. I was looking for Bill's thread on false teachers but couldn't find it. So move if you wish.

It is ironic that one who claims to have healed thousands and claims to have never been ill in his life is now having heart issues.

I pray that his REAL heart issues will be dealt with, and that he will repent of his false teaching.

So, what are the chances he'll get lectured/scolded/etc. by Jesus anytime soon? Hopefully he realizes he needs to repent of his foolishness.
If it weren't for the Resurrection of Jesus, we'd all be in DEEP TROUBLE!

Prayer is the only appropriate response.

That's the one! Can we move this thread, then, if it is deemed appropriate?

You're one of the owners of this forum, aren't you? Can't you just exercize your dictatorial privileges and simply decide that it's appropriate?

I could, but I am admittedly not clear sometimes as to where stuff belongs.

If Bill says this is good here, then I am good with that.

The correct response would have been to start waving your PinTM around and laughing like a maniac.

He can't heal himself, cuz that would cause a feedback loop and he would explode.

I don't actually know much about Hinn; I believe his prominence peaked before when I was old enough to pay attention. I do know he has a poor reputation.

That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

Back in the 90's and early 2000's he was pretty prominent. He would make prophesies that Jesus would appear on stage with him (never happened), and said such idiotic things like "put your hand on your TV screen to receive healing" and "People are going to be canceling funeral services and bringing their dead in their caskets, placing them before a TV set, waiting for God's power to…touch them."

oh and: "I've looked for one verse in the Bible -- I just can't seem to find it -- one verse that says, If you don't like 'em, kill 'em. I really wish I could find it!... Sometimes I wish God would give me a Holy Ghost machine gun. I'd blow your head off!"

Before he was a worldwide nuisance, he was a prominent pastor here in Orlando. In person, one on one, he was arrogant and condescending, and had a house built in one of our wealthier suburbs. A friend of mine who is blind went to him to be healed and wasn't, and as a result, for a time my friend became an atheist.

Even in the 1980s Hin was rotten to the core.
