Christianity 201 Guidelines

orthodox Christians only.

Discussion on matters of general mainstream evangelical Christian theology that do not fit within Theology 201. Have some spiritual gifts ceased today? Is the KJV the only viable translation for the church today? In what sense are the books of the bible inspired and what are those books? Church government? Modern day prophets and apostles?

This forum is primarily for Christians to discuss matters of Christian doctrine, and is not the area for debate between atheists (or those opposing orthodox Christianity) and Christians. Inquiring atheists (or sincere seekers/doubters/unorthodox) seeking only Christian participation and having demonstrated a manner that does not seek to undermine the orthodox Christian faith of others are also welcome, but must seek Moderator permission first. When defining “Christian” or "orthodox" for purposes of this section, we mean persons holding to the core essentials of the historic Christian faith such as the Trinity, the Creatorship of God, the virgin birth, the bodily resurrection of Christ, the atonement, the future bodily return of Christ, the future bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, and the final judgment. Persons not holding to these core doctrines are welcome to participate in the Comparative Religions section without restriction, in Theology 201 as regards to the nature of God and salvation with limited restrictions, and in Christology for issues surrounding the person of Christ and the Trinity. Atheists are welcome to discuss and debate these issues in the Apologetics 301 forum without such restrictions.

Additionally and rarely, there may be some topics or lines of discussion that within the Moderator's discretion fall so outside the bounds of mainstream orthodox doctrine (in general Christian circles or in the TheologyWeb community) or that deny certain core values that are the Christian convictions of forum leadership that may be more appropriately placed within Unorthodox Theology 201. NO personal offense should be taken by such discretionary decision for none is intended. While inerrancy is NOT considered a requirement for posting in this section, a general respect for the Bible text and a respect for the inerrantist position of others is requested.

The Tweb rules apply here like they do everywhere at Tweb, if you haven't read them, now would be a good time.

    • This one is a bit old but the video highlights how only 2 workers at Walmarts have ever been found positive for COVID-19. So it is safe place to be, but the fewer gatherings at churches have led to all sorts of cases. So, indeed, if you wish to worship safely, have everyone meet at Walmart. It is a miracle!!!

      • I have mixed feelings about what John MacArthur is doing. I've been following this as best I can from across the country but it's harder since the MSM isn't reporting on it.

On the one hand, I appreciate John's standing up for the proclamation of the Gospel and US civil rights. Especially since the local churches here have pretty much rolled over and played dead at the government's command.

On the other hand, I can't shake an annoying feeling that John is winning a battle and losing a war. I wish I could give you a better reason than a feeling but I can't.

Not sure where I land on this issue.

I checked the first the first three links. They sound astoundingly minimalist as sources of the spread of coronavirus or of deaths. The video I shared may have understated things a little bit but your links didn't pose any image of widespread infection of the community by these locations.

            • The Jewish synagogue across the street is allowing GCC to use their parking lot on Sunday mornings!

GCC now has more parking than ever, at a savings of $100 grand a year!

              God is SO gracious!!

It's very ironic, though. Jews allowing Christians to park while hearing about their Messiah.

This is great to hear. Nothing like the county helping the church save money. I think this era places all people of a religious background on the same side.

Perhaps the synagogue recognizes what GCC is doing for freedom of religion. That's the only thing that might place them on the same side.

Been busier than a one-legged man in a butt kickin contest. Finishing up some projects, so I'll be here and not.

I did too! And it seems well deserved. Welcome back. I was worried mossy was going to tear up the new site with her Pin™ if you didn't show up soon.

PS, you need to boost the volume on your mic, it is way softer than the Music director's. I keep having to turn up the volume when you talk and back down when he sings.

                            • The judge would not let the county cancel the lease for the parking lot!

So the church didn't lose those 180 spaces, but also have the 150 spaces at the synagogue every week!

                              God is SO gracious!

Thanks for the update. It is so odd to find a judge making a good decision on a political issue. Oh right. this was the first weekend after the city wanted the lease to end.

There was a feud between two families in a city here. One family owned an alligator farm. They disliked the Knotts, who had a berry farm. The alligator people refused to sell their land to the Knotts family for use as a parking lot. Last I saw, there still is no parking lot there. What's my point? i dunno.
