Christianity 201 Guidelines
orthodox Christians only.
Discussion on matters of general mainstream evangelical Christian theology that do not fit within Theology 201. Have some spiritual gifts ceased today? Is the KJV the only viable translation for the church today? In what sense are the books of the bible inspired and what are those books? Church government? Modern day prophets and apostles?
This forum is primarily for Christians to discuss matters of Christian doctrine, and is not the area for debate between atheists (or those opposing orthodox Christianity) and Christians. Inquiring atheists (or sincere seekers/doubters/unorthodox) seeking only Christian participation and having demonstrated a manner that does not seek to undermine the orthodox Christian faith of others are also welcome, but must seek Moderator permission first. When defining “Christian” or "orthodox" for purposes of this section, we mean persons holding to the core essentials of the historic Christian faith such as the Trinity, the Creatorship of God, the virgin birth, the bodily resurrection of Christ, the atonement, the future bodily return of Christ, the future bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, and the final judgment. Persons not holding to these core doctrines are welcome to participate in the Comparative Religions section without restriction, in Theology 201 as regards to the nature of God and salvation with limited restrictions, and in Christology for issues surrounding the person of Christ and the Trinity. Atheists are welcome to discuss and debate these issues in the Apologetics 301 forum without such restrictions.
Additionally and rarely, there may be some topics or lines of discussion that within the Moderator's discretion fall so outside the bounds of mainstream orthodox doctrine (in general Christian circles or in the TheologyWeb community) or that deny certain core values that are the Christian convictions of forum leadership that may be more appropriately placed within Unorthodox Theology 201. NO personal offense should be taken by such discretionary decision for none is intended. While inerrancy is NOT considered a requirement for posting in this section, a general respect for the Bible text and a respect for the inerrantist position of others is requested.
The Tweb rules apply here like they do everywhere at Tweb, if you haven't read them, now would be a good time.

(Jesse Duplantis, “When Will We Yield To The Anointing of Wealth II,” April 10, 2005)
“People don’t like being commanded to do something. Except God! God says, ‘Command ye Me!’…That’s not arrogance! That’s understanding who you are! Quit judging yourself like you’re merely human! You’re more than human!”
(Jesse Duplantis, “Spring Praise-A-Thon,” TBN, April 6, 2005)
‘But Jesus was poor!’ Someone argued. You are living in a dream world if you believe that. Have you ever been to a casino? Have you ever seen a gambler say, ‘I’m putting all my money on those torn up, old clothes?’ They don’t gamble for rags. Yet, the Bible says that the Roman soldiers gambled for Jesus clothes. They must have looked pretty good. He also had a full time staff of 12 and a part time staff of 70.”
(Jesse Duplantis, “Prosperity is not About Possessions, It’s About Priorities,” Voice Of The Covenant Magazine, February 2004)
He's one of those "faith" guys...
“If I give $1,000 dollars I deserve to get back $100,000 because I am just, that’s not greed!”
(Jesse Duplantis, December 19, 2003 TBN, “The just shall live by faith.”)
“Cash is king!. The hundered fold works! If I give $50 you mean God will give me $5,000? Yes!. If you give $1,000 in the offering this morning, will God give you $100,000 by tomorrow? Yes!”
(Jesse Duplantis, January 24, 2004, The Church Channel, “The Choke Hold”)
you know, he reads something like Hebrews 11:6 that says without faith it is impossible to please God -- and he actually believes it!
Yup, I can't understand how he actually reads and believes what Jesus says....
I guess it's heretical to believe Jesus when He said "Owe no man anything" and his Ministry has been debt free since [I think] 1982.
I wonder why we do not see him on TV crying for money all the time like a lot of other preachers? Hmmmmm.....
3 If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness,
4 he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions,
5 and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.
6 But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment.
7 For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either.
8 If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content.
9 But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction.
10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
11 But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness.Last edited by Bill the Cat; 01-20-2016, 07:31 AM.That's what

The early church would most likely include those people under Timothy's verse and call them a nut. Televangelists make easy targets to go off on (almost ass if none are genuine Christians) but Timothy wasn't talking about them but a whole wide range of people and doctrines outside of good first century doctrine.Last edited by Mikeenders; 02-03-2016, 03:02 PM.

There are no "Bible studies" anymore. There are "small groups", in which social and feel-good messages are watched/listened to/read. No actual scripture is studied, and so the problem perpetuates itself.
And it goes all the way back to seminaries, where liberalism has taken over and the gospel has been watered down. The pastors in the pulpits are tickling ears, and the people hearing are not being fed. They don't grow, they accept pap, and the problem grows.
Most of them would actually have quite "conservative" views of Scripture, most aspects of theology, and social issues.Geislerminian Antinomian Kenotic Charispneumaticostal Gender Mutualist-Egalitarian.
