Seriously. We need love and not hate. Course what we really need is Jesus the Messiah!!!

Agape is still the best kind! Without it, the other loves don't work very well. Family, friends, and romantic partners need commitment. And the willingness to die for the other person. Yes, I am bumping old threads. I am tired of the new threads.

As for eros, well, there are plenty of cheap paperback books that will cover that. But in all seriousness, Song of Solomon is my recommendation.
Yes, Song of Solomon is a great poem about eros. Not really a fan of eros. I like agape, phileo and storges the best. When people talk about the power of love, which one?

Oh, I thought of another good example of agape in fiction. Samuel from "Showdown" by Ted Dekker.
Every Ted Dekker book I have read has been good. Especially the Circle Series(although Green's ending was a bit.. odd).

Well, giving up everything, your life included doesn't work with all good guys.

For real life, Jesus. Fictional is too hard to decide.

I think that Xion from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days does this. She gives up literally everything, including everyone else's memory of her existence, in order to make sure that something that would be good for everybody would happen. Sadly she has to fight her best friend, and be destroyed(by him) to make it happen. Very sad game. Very good story though.
