Anybody here have any experience with Toastmasters? I've seriously been considering giving it a try to improve my public speaking skills.

Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

Been there, done that. Well worth it, and fun!

My experience (been a while) is that you meet once a week, they're very "time conscious" (so things don't drag on forever) and you learn by example while others are practicing their speeches, essays, short stories, or whatever... they make it fun -- there's an "ah counter" - a person who will count the number of times you say "uh... ah... um...." during your speech, and others will critique on your delivery...

You can be an observer at first, or observe and serve as time keeper, "ah counter", judge, or some other role, eventually coming to the point where you make your first speech or talk. It's a very supportive atmosphere, and, did I mention it's fun?

Well, if the SCA meeting isn't this week then I get to attend my first Toastmaster's meeting Tuesday.

Get your impromptu speaking skills in order...you will need them when doing Table Topics.
