  • Good Writing - Avoid Cliches like the Plague!

What are some of your favorite (or most hated) cliches. I mean, at the end of the day, we all have some! Which one(s) do you keep as the ace up your sleeve? This isn't about airing your dirty laundry, but those blasted cliches that are dumber than a bag of hammers.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Video game characters with nearly infinite inventory space. It often seems that no matter how much they can hold, there's always room for more.

Idiots in movies who walk alone into dark scary areas where you know they will be killed. Usually cheerleader types. Also when someone backs up in a dark scary place, you just know they are going to bump into the monster.

            I love this geico commercial:

The Scooby-doo solution. When I used to DM D&D games I repeatedly warned parties not to do that. And after multiple warnings going unheeded wiped out several adventuring parties.

and female warriors wearing armor, except all it does is push up their breasts.

Manwe is just at the very top of the heap. The others are far less extreme.
