I'm always still in trouble again
"You're by far the worst poster on TWeb" and "TWeb's biggest liar" --starlight (the guy who says Stalin was a right-winger)
"Overall I would rate the withdrawal from Afghanistan as by far the best thing Biden's done" --Starlight
"Of course, human life begins at fertilization that’s not the argument." --Tassman

Anime-shon (animation) becomes Anime. Makudonarudo (McDonalds) becomes Makasu (pronounced Maccas, same as in Australia). And, fond memory, Aisukuri-mu (icecream) becomes Aisu. Barman in a local hotel asked if a Japanese lady I was talking with wanted ice in her cider. [horrified look] Aisu?

I'm currently trying to learn Japanese, and am using Duolingo. I'm starting to be able to read a few things in certain video games now. I've got a long way to go, but I've been making progress. I have 118 "stars", which are basically mini lessons on a single topic with 5 stars per lesson. I'm far better at reading what I've learned than either speaking it or understanding it spoken. Other than that I have some trouble with the grammar. Sometimes the sentence is basically backwards compared to what it would be in English, and other times it is not. Hiragana is the part I have the least trouble with so far.

I've always found Japanese culture interesting, and always wanted to at least visit there once. That was my original reason for wanting to learn the language. I likely won't ever get to do that because of a variety of issues, but I can still try and learn the language.
Seems like a worthwhile programme. If you're interested, maybe start a thread somewhere that we can help each other out.
I just might start a thread on this.
