  • The BEST Burger EVER

What's the best Burger you've ever had?

Build it / grill it / fry it yourself?

    Your favorite place?

Something special about the way it's made or adorned?

I'm REALLY liking the burger on a jalapeno sourdough bun with pepperjack cheese, and thick crispy bacon.

I have sent Mrs. CP out in search of some jalapeno sourdough buns so we can try this at home!
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

We once made some bison burgers that I topped with marinated portobello mushrooms. Yummy.

Five Guys. I'll even say it's better than In-N-Out.

(waits for West Coast to flip out)

The Mirror Pond burger from the Bend Burger Company. It has Swiss Cheese, Portobella Mushroom and I ex the grilled onions for bacon. It's topped with mayo and Bend Burger sauce.

No way! (that's my flip out)

However, I will say that their soda machine is AMAZING! I go there for that alone...

            That being said...

In-N-Out is probably still my one of my top burgers for a chain.

Of course the real winner, IMO, is a place called Hodad's here in San Diego. The bacon cheeseburger is my favorite of all time. Still haven't had a burger come close to it, IMO.

(PS you need to look at the full size of this to see the glory of the bacon and the burger patty...soooooooo goooooooooooood)

Oddly enough, mine is a drug store in Troy, Alabama called 'Byrd's Drugs'. They're famous for their chicken salad - which I'll try someday when they run out of burgers!

A Burger King double bacon cheese burger. I don't exactly choose burgers when I can get something better at a place that has better food available.

Sorry but someplace named "runza" would not exactly make me want to eat there.

"Best burger ever" is a bit tough, but it's amazing what two (or three, if you're ambitious) different meat patties can do for a home-cooked burger, e.g., beef patty + chicken patty + salmon patty*.

Also, though it wouldn't seem to be, diced celery is a tasty topping for a burger.

                      *Bacon is, of course, assumed.

I've never been to In-n-Out, as I've never been to California. If I ever go, it's high on the list.

Smashburger.... My favorite burger there is the Avocado Club Burger (usually listed as a chicken sandwich but you can get it as a burger), though their other burgers are all good too. (My Mom had a Mushroom Swiss and she said it was the best version of that burger she'd ever come across.) And, oh my gobbles!, the Smashfries are so good. SO GOOD. Mmmmm!

Seriously, just thinking about this place is making my mouth water.

I like them better than Five Guys. Five Guys burgers are ok, but EXTREMELY messy and greasy, and I intensely dislike their fries. I think I've been to an In-and-Out twice? But it was years ago and I can't remember much. What I do remember is feeling totally ambivalent about their burgers so... *shrugs*
