  • Quick Poll for study purposes

Poll - please only give the answer without any further comment (for now), and yes, Buckwheat, is invited to join in. A further question will open the thread up for discussion.

    Someone says the following

"Before the anniversary, the manager learned that he was about to be transferred, and during the dinner he gave his farewell address."

At what dinner did the manager give his farewell address?
1Cor 15:34 εκνηψατε δικαιως και μη αμαρτανετε αγνωσιαν γαρ θεου τινες εχουσιν προς εντροπην υμιν λεγω
Come to your senses as you ought and stop sinning; for I say to your shame, there are some who know not God.
    .
If Palm Sunday really was a Sunday, Christ was crucified on a Thursday (which could be adduced from the gospels anyway).

Something is missing. Like the poll.

I'm always still in trouble again

"You're by far the worst poster on TWeb" and "TWeb's biggest liar" --starlight (the guy who says Stalin was a right-winger)
"Overall I would rate the withdrawal from Afghanistan as by far the best thing Biden's done" --Starlight
"Of course, human life begins at fertilization that’s not the argument." --Tassman

It's an informal poll. A formal poll seems to require a list of answers to be provided, and from which a selection is made.

Ooookay. No discussion and no poll.

        This oughta be interesting.

Right now, I'm interested is seeing what unprompted answers might be thrown into the ring. After that discussion might be lively, or it might come to nothing.

I would assume it was his farewell dinner.

Oh dear. It seems that the parameters for the question need to be tightened. I wonder how many other answers might be forthcoming.

ETA - It it's in the "too hard basket" I need to know that as well.

Anniversary dinner, though there isn't enough data to make a hazard a more concrete answer. Kinda reminds me of the SATs we were forced to take in high school as "college prep"

That's the way I see but... well that's "discussion."

I'll give my reasons later on if you ask me, but for now I'll simply say his anniversary supper.

                        The "dinner" is unspecified.

OK - That definitely makes rephrasing necessary:

"Before the company anniversary, the manager learned that he was about to be transferred, and during the dinner he gave his farewell address."

At what dinner did the manager give his farewell address?

The sentence does not specifically say what dinner.
