Are there any movies that you just can't watch, or have difficulty watching?
Mine are Hurt Locker and Black Hawk Down.

Not actually a "war movie", but I have watched Hunt For Red October a zillion times.
Stalag 17
The Great Escape.
Yeah, Patton - the very first movie I ever saw on one of those ginormous screens.

Oh, one added note: With the exception of "Chinatown", the Film Noir list are all from the 1940s and 1950s. I say this because some were remade and the remakes often stink.

Best "War" Movies (or any movies)
CP suggested a thread about favorite war movies. I haven't watched enough to compile a list. I'd like to see lists from others, though. There's plenty of war movies on Cinema and Nova streaming apps.
My favorite genre is Film Noir (I guess that translates from French as "dark film"). These are the movies that tend to be black & white, where the protagonist is often a private detective who gets in over is head, or some innocent slob who gets caught up in the criminal underworld and has to escape, with neon lights flickering through Venetian blinds, and dangerous fem fatales lurking to ensnare the star. Lots of atmosphere and usually some tongue-in-cheek clever dialogue.
My list of some of the best ones:
1) "Raw Deal"
2) "Act Of Violence"
3) "Out Of The Past"
4) "Double Indemnity"
5) "The Maltese Falcon"
6) "Ride The Pink Horse"
7) "The October Man"
8) "Chinatown"
9) "Desperate"
10) "Woman On The Run"
War movies ....
"Where Eagles Dare" has always been a fave. Same with "Sahara". "Patton" was good.Tags: None
