  • Aptronyms

One of those obscure, highly specific words whose existence just makes me happy, an aptronym is a name that happens to fit the person's occupation amusingly well. Share some aptronyms you've encountered.

    A firefighter named Les McBurney
    Pastor Bishop Pope
    Dr. Seawright, ophthalmologist
A criminal justice major I went to college with named Justus
I DENOUNCE DONALD J. TRUMP AND ALL HIS IMMORAL ACTS.

My Dad told me that he was in basic training with a George Patton. Probably not really an aptronym, but funny anyway.

They had their own little ongoing performances with that --- "I put you to sleep, he does the cutting".

HOWEVER, just before surgery, both doctors asked if they could pray with her, and both of them did - together.

I've shared about the lady in my Church who turned 100 years old, and we gave her a really big party....

Her name was Zella Pillow. And she always wore a hat to church that literally looked like a small pillow.

Her name was the easiest for me to remember we first went to that Church. (and also, easiest to point out ... "Mrs Pillow is the lady with the pillow on her head". )
