    When I first moved here in the early 70s it was not uncommon to see large stretches of forest areas utterly swallowed by the stuff like something out of a horror movie. The ground would be completely carpeted and trees would be heavily draped with it so that you saw little if any of the actual tree. But now that seems very rare. While it still can grow over everything it just isn't nearly as heavy of a covering.
    I know you're not exaggerating, for I have seen a stretch of highway near Navasota, Texas where it looked like somebody laid a GIANT green blanket over barns, telephone poles, trees.... You could tell where telephone lines were by observing the "creases" in the "blanket".
