Trouble w/ picture folder on computer

My computer's picture folder only shows pictures, when set to view as icons, as icons based on the file type/extension. It no longer shows icons that look like mini versions of the picture. Any idea how to fix this?

Which operating system do you use? :) (Which version of Windows, if it is Windows?)
