  • Dumb Question About Spreadsheets

I'd like to create a simple spreadsheet to keep track of pet medications - especially flea meds. I'd like to include a picture of each animal so that the picture appears while I'm doing the data entry and when reviewing it.

Or maybe I should create a form?

Maybe I should just mess with the thing until I figure it out...

I can help if there will be no pictures of cats.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

I can't help if there are pictures of anything.

There should be an option to imbed pics. It's been a while and I don't know 365 very well...

If you have so many cats that you need a spreadsheet to keep track of them, you have too many cats.

What you probably need to use is MS Access instead of Excel and create a database. I don't think you can insert a picture into a cell in excel but you can have a picture in a database field in access.

Sure you can - not necessarily into a cell, but onto an area....

right, which doesn't help if she is trying to keep track of different cats with different rows.

Sure it does - the pictures can be placed anywhere on the spreadsheet, adjacent to the block of text, or group of cells, or whatever about each cat.

Sounds like she want a form to fill out though with the picture of the cat there.

If you want to actually "lock" the picture into a cell, press the ALT key, then drag the picture to the particular cell.

The picture needs to be resized to fit in the cell.
Make sure the row height of the cell is sufficient, make sure the cell width is sufficient, make sure the picture is small enough to fit into that cell, then Alt-drag it there.

                          No?

(once you have "insert" "picture" onto the spreadsheet in general)

                            I'll try it.

FYI: the flea meds are easy to mix up and can't be reapplied for a month. Since I don't stand so well anymore, it takes a couple days to get everybody done (corralling counts on the standing up time. ) by which time the first ones are dry and I do have a couple pairs that look a lot alike. I try to do Tigger, Tiger, Double and Spot at the same time but Tiger and Double aren't so cooperative about it.
