  • So What's the Problem?

I have a Vizio Smart TV. NETFLIX and Hulu come with the package among other stuff but NETFLIX is on the remote.

    - when watching Hulu, there were annoying interruptions of the picture. I decided to go to NETFLIX. No problems.

    - Ditched NETFLIX and went back to Hulu despite picture problems. Decided to trying casting from my lappy. Lo and behold, no picture problem. Tried it with phone, no problem either. But using TV, the breaking up happened again.

So, what is it...remote problem? NETFLEX preference bulit in?

Might be your internet connection. Is it constantly buffering? Or are you talking about actual picture glitches? If it is stopping and loading every so often, that sounds like you have an internet problem, maybe it isn't getting a good signal if wireless, or a bad cable if you are using ethernet. If the pictures are glitching then that sounds like a TV hardware or software problem. You might need to contact vizio support.

try rebooting the TV. Turn off power, unplug from the wall for a few minutes and then plug back in. Or see if there is some update function in the software to update the TV firmware or apps.

Thing is, Sparky, the same WiFi is used for all of this.

The picture is more glitching than anything else f I access Hulu thru the TV by the remote control. There's no breakup of the picture if I cast through the laptop or phone. I'll try power cycling the TV...it *could* be the TV not wanting to play well directly with the Wifi. Curious.

Whoops...forgot to mention I use Chromecast for the casting. My SmartTV does not have the native program. Hm.

I thought you just said that if you play from the TV it messes up but if you cast to the TV it works fine? I am confused now.

I have to use a dongle for the Chromecast because it's not native to the TV. Newer Visio have the casting app installed on them.

Let me play around with your suggestions first.

                Lol. Dongle is
                1. a small device able to be connected to and used with a computer, especially to allow access to wireless broadband or use of protected software.

And casting is the ability to send FB live, videos, etc. from the phone to the screen. My TV doesn't have the native ability to accept casting so I had to buy the Chromecast dongle and plug into an HDMI port on the TV.

                      oh now i understand.

so the built in apps on the tv are glitching but the chromecasting is working ok.

I thought you said your tv didn't have built in apps, so I was wondering what you were comparing your casting to.

If you're watching Hulu through an app on your tv, you might try seeing if there is an update for it.

I'm messing with this....it seems I need to go the long way around. Ok. Still don't get why no problems with the other apps unless the Hulu one needs to be REALLY replaced. Weird.

Depending on how long the tv was on the shelf, the Hulu app may have been pretty old. Deleting it and reloading it might work wonders.
