The discourse with such high priests must also be appropriately elevated, using higher terms and punctuation:

    trans person
trans woman (identifies as a woman, despite being assigned male gender when young)
trans man (identifies as a man, despite being assigned female gender when young)

Not preferred but not horribly offensive forms:

transgendered person (because it's an identity not a historical event)
a transgender (as a noun instead of an adjective)

Similar to the last category, but still acceptable in the context in scientific literature:

    a transsexual

    Horribly offensive:

    Anything else, really.

    Not quite the same:

transvestite (this is an older fashioned word for cross dressing, which people can do without identifying as the gender they're dressing as)

I appreciate the correction, as I am quite behind the times for correct terminology.

Epo (and everyone) is free to use any of the accepted words.

What if transgender people are biologically distinct from their assigned genders?
Oh, wow, I don't know, which is more likely, that the OP had a biological distinction, or that half a million dollars incentivized her to act like she had one?

Suppose it hypothetically *cough* turns out that cisgender men and women have distinct neurological structures and trans men and women differ from those in the direction of their transgender identity?
Suppose it not-so-hypothetically turned out that a distinctly abnormal neurology is built up from the repeated bad choices we make in life, validating everything the Bible ever said about habitual sin and following the law, and that this abnormal neurology made one much more likely to commit other crimes due to the disconnection from the rest of society?

It might be easier to maintain a strict gender dichotomy if gender itself weren't made up of different components that don't always line up the same way.
It might be easier to claim that the dichotomy didn't matter if there weren't thousands of years of civilization and culture which found many ways to mitigate those occasionally errant bents through the exercise of pre-defined duties and the dedication to people and institutions besides oneself. Y'know, the sort of thing that ensures you aren't just making things up without testing them first, or constructing an entire theory of everything without letting it hit reality.

There are thousands of years of civilisation behind non-binary and non-western gender constructs, as well. There was this thing where a load of white dudes went around the world murdering people: which somewhat cut down how prevalent it is. But a binary, rigidly defined gender construct is not the only possible one.

Binary contructs seem appropriate when you've just given birth and you have to make an announcement. If we decide for various reasons to change our minds, we physically are the same (unless ofcourse you decide to operate).

Even then, changing the hood ornament from a Chevy bowtie to a Ferarri shield and horse does not make the car a Ferarri.

Oh hey, cis people who don't know anything about the subject matter holding unnuanced, simplistic and... well, wrong, views. Colour me surprised.

Sure, whatever. Usually the white dudes were way more chill than the cultures they were MURDERING (due to the happy fact that the physical difference between the sexes is far more distinct among Europeans than, say, Asians or Indians.) In such cultures, the sexual binary is MORE rigid and more ruthlessly enforced than in the cultures where natural physical differences and proclivities meant that there was no pressing need to enforce them.

It was India, not England, that came up with Suttee, where the wife must prove her loyalty to her husband through self-immolation.

It was China, not America, where feet were bound from birth, and where female beauty was identified as the absolute premium virtue possible.

It is in the Islamic world, not the West, where women have to wear full coverings and engage in fashionable clitoral removal according to the spirit of the age, and coincidentally where young boys are often used as sexual playthings for older men.

But this is me being too glib and general, as almost all of these damnable trends happened following long periods of urbanization, civilization, and its consequent infantilization, as 'non-binary, non-rigidly defined gender constructs' are things that only survive through parasitization on healthy hosts who can actually make binary decisions and construct rigid buildings that last through the corruptions of the age. They last not a minute among people with a need for boring things like 'functional families' or working societies.

The normal men and women in every age regard these people with toleration at best and contempt at worst, and will offer no resistance to foreign conquerors who destroy the symbols of a decadent generation, and any real and lasting religion is one that sets itself firmly apart from the evil desires of youth and the grasping dreams of the idle rich.
