    I think renewable energy is more and more making progress against fossil-fuel energy. Maybe in 50 years it will be a historical footnote.

    You'd almost think that our life expectancy wasn't double of what it was only a little over a hundred years ago. Given that there definitely are real downsides to the use of fossil fuels and other technological improvements for the most part they have led to a huge quality of life improvement. Thanks to movies many folks get this idyllic impression of what life was like back then when in fact for the most part it was filthy, brutal and short.

    Yeah and don't forget all the fracking, aerosol, black-lung, mercury in the water, acid rain, coal by products, sulfur in our soil, and methane and leachate from our landfills, over building, de-forestation, ozone depletion, and adding all that carbon to the air.
