"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." ― C.S. Lewis, God in the Dock: Essays on Theology (Making of Modern Theology)

Unfortunately, in practice, the Republicans have voted literally over 50 times to repeal Obamacare, Republican governors have by and large refused to accept the free expansion of medicaid, and a right-wing think tank currently has a case before the Supreme Court to try and invalidate a key provision of Obamacare which would have the immediate effect of stripping health insurance from about 10 million people should they be successful.
You do know that it was the Republican Party that abolished slavery and the Democratic Party that defended slavery, right?
Originally the KKK directed violence against black and white Republicans. It was the Democrats who were segregationist following the Civil War, and passed the Jim Crow laws, and suppressed black voters.
Woodrow Wilson (Democrat, hero of the Progressive Era, who brought us the Income Tax and the Federal Reserve, and got the U.S. unnecessarily involved in the first World War) introduced segregation in federal offices.

- "Health insurance" does not equal "health care".
- Ending a subsidy for a thing does not equal taking away the thing. (Like when you move out of your parents house and they stop paying for all your food, that doesn't mean they are taking any food from you.)
Um, you do know that the parties switched right?
As for swapping big/small government policies, I gave Woodrow Wilson as a counter-example (example of a Progressive/big-government hero, working to expand segregation.)
Also from your article:
"From a business perspective, Rauchway pointed out, the loyalties of the parties did not really switch. "Although the rhetoric and to a degree the policies of the parties do switch places," he wrote, "their core supporters don't — which is to say, the Republicans remain, throughout, the party of bigger businesses; it's just that in the earlier era bigger businesses want bigger government and in the later era they don't.""
Although I would argue that big business still to this day is in favor of big government.

I've always found OpenSecrets to be a good resource in following where the money goes. For instance, this shows that during the 2012 presidential campaign, those from the business sector only gave $2.5K during that time. Where as Hollywood gave a whopping $365.3K. That is some serious moolah."Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. You've essentially got the wrong link, and $365K is chump change in terms of US political donations... the standard unit of donations is $ M.
The industries that donated to Republicans more than Democrats (at a > 2:1 rate) were:
Securities & Investment, Real Estate, Misc Finance, Hedge Funds & Private Equity, Oil & Gas, Insurance, Commercial Banks (totaling ~$79 Million from these donors).
Those that donated to Democrats more than Republicans (at a > 2:1 rate) were:
Education, Civil Servants/Public Officials, TV/Movies/Music (totaling ~$37 Million from these donors).
Other industries donated similar amounts to both parties according to that website page. Although the numbers on that page are still far too low, because Super PACs and various other donor networks aren't being included in those figures."I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump

It's a bit interesting to me, that the link I supplied doesn't show contributions for those with radio talk shows under celebrities. That might be in a different place on the site."Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.
