She always says the dumbest things.

I guess we just need to get Pizza Hut to hire ISIS as delivery drivers and everything will be ok.

      How utterly stupid.

I don't follow the dialogue, but she might have a tiny point. The point being the devil finds work for idle hands. Not that this excuses their atrocities!

Perhaps they could work at McDonald's - flipping camel burgers. They point is, a lot of these recruits are not coming from poor families but from middle class families in Europe.

            Putting it mildly.
Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Never thought I'd see y'all turn down the chance to criticize unions, the welfare state, and the minimum wage for making it impossible for so many young people (in Europe even moreso than here) to find good jobs
              Don't call it a comeback. It's a riposte.

Nobody in their right mind thinks people go to Syria to be ground up like cattle because they don't have jobs.

Key phrase here is "in their right mind." It is hard for me to believe that anyone expects people with intelligence above the earthworm level believes this, or expects anyone else to believe this. Is anyone that stupid? This is just more effort to slow down the fight against the terrorists.

And many of the leaders are professionals such as doctors and lawyers. And some were very rich like bin Laden.

Poverty or lack of employment is not what is driving Islamic terrorism.

If there's legitimacy to the argument, it's in the "ounce of prevention" rather than the "pound of cure" category; long-standing labor practices have shut out the young, not least the young among first and second-generation immigrants for whom the promise of prosperity has been empty and the relativistic tolerance of the West has failed to provide or even allow room for the development of a compelling vision of human fulfillment. It's not about having jobs so much as not being participants in a worthwhile society; ISIS offers them a coherent (if ineffably evil) vision of life that the liberal West doesn't know how to compete with.

Right, even if poverty was driving some of this, it is probably a small percentage. What the Libs refuse to see or believe is that this is being fueled by ideology, religious ideology.

Except that ISIS isn't at war with the free world because they're bored and can't think of anything better to do.

There are plenty of unemployed people in the middle east who are not terrorists. I think the State Dept is insulting all people in that area with their inane comments.

It's not boredom, it's disillusionment with the Western world and its promise of prosperity that can satisfy every physical desire but offers no spiritual or ideological guidance other than whining about tolerance-- and always directing that message to the radical right rather than making the historical and philosophical argument for religious pluralism to the new generations of immigrants.
