If white privilege is a thing, and male privilege is a thing, is pretty privilege a thing?

    This is a serious question.

I would say yes, as numerous studies have shown that various privileges accompany beauty (employment, wage, deference, etc.). I would also say that beauty for women is often less of a privilege, in that increased beauty among women more often seems to create increased risk than it does for men.

Rush's Undeniable Truth number 24.Feminism was established as to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society.

LOL, he is not saying that it is necessarily wrong for them to have greater access, but that beautiful women, generally, always had access. Even if only through the proxy of a man.

So far all they've done with it is death and destruction on an unimaginable scale. Abortion alone makes Hitler look like just a driveby homeboy. So yeah. The horror.

I am more than familiar with Rush's point regarding feminism, as well as his attitude and depiction of the movement. His is not a morally neutral "point-of-fact" position.

Best to keep Rush out of these sorts of things, lest his misogyny is mistakenly imported.

Yes, said he loved the women's movement - especially when walking behind it.

We are not all born equal. There are various qualities we can be born with which will create varying degrees of advantage or disadvantage in our society. Things like handedness, disability, attractiveness, ethnic origin, family wealth, gender and IQ. The tricky part comes in trying create a just society in which advantage and disadvantage does not have undue impact on opportunity.

In light of this, why is it that race and gender are the only ones that seemingly matter?

For example, I am a white male, who also happens to not be terribly attractive. Using the same criteria for white and male privilege, the latter characteristic arguably places me at a disadvantage, but this disadvantage is seemingly irrelevant. In other words, I need to "check my privilege" because I am white and male, but people who are naturally attractive and thereby advantaged in society do not need to "check their privilege." It seems like a strange double standard to me.

Yes! Privilege does not come isolated. Privilege that accompanies white (so called) skin may be a part of one persons complex of privilege. Where you are physically located plays apart. Personality plays a part. Many things play a part. To isolate "white privilege" or "male privilege" is purely artificial, though for some coarse focused discussions they may be useful.
Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
