  • They Burned Him Alive!

It looks like IS put the Jordanian air force pilot Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh in a cage and burned him alive then posted it. Who the hell are these people, I mean even Hitler at least tried to hide his atrocities. God help us...

They appeal to young male malcontents from across the Islamic world for manpower. Offering the chance to extract vengeance for all their problems can be a powerful motivator. If nothing else, Al Baghdadi is a good psychologist.

They seem to be void of any natural affection or simple kindness. This war will be going on long after I die - unless Christ returns before that.

IIRC burning is considered the worst way for Muslims to die, so they'd naturally choose that for a fellow Muslim opposing them.

They aren't supposed to do that according to the ahadith.

                  Bukhari, volume 9, #57

Narrated Ikrima, "Some atheists were brought to Ali and he burnt them. The news of this event, reached Ibn Abbas who said, "If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Allah's messenger forbade it, saying, "Do not punish anybody with Allah's punishment (fire)." I would have killed them according to the statement of Allah's Messenger, "Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.

                    Some good news:

                    http://news.yahoo.com/jordan-execute...191536008.html

Amman (AFP) - Jordan will execute Wednesday an Iraqi would-be suicide bomber on death row and other jihadists after having vowed to avenge the murder of a Jordanian pilot by Islamic State jihadists, an official said.

"The sentence of death pending on... Iraqi Sajida al-Rishawi will be carried out at dawn," the security official said on Tuesday, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Rishawi, the would-be bomber, was condemned to death for her participation in deadly attacks in Amman in 2005, and IS had offered to spare the life of the Jordanian fighter pilot, Lieutenant Maaz al-Kassasbeh, if she were released.

                    ...

"Jordan's response will be earth-shattering," Information Minister Mohammed Momani said earlier on television, while the army and government vowed to avenge the pilot's murder.

"Whoever doubted the unity of the Jordanian people, we will prove them wrong," said Momani, who is also government spokesman.
Between this and Shinzo Abe threatening to unleash Japan's mech armada it's been a pretty good couple of weeks. Hopefully it's not just all talk.

The ahadith are not necessarily normative, right?

Among the Sunni the Sahih al-Bukhari is considered darn near as authoritative as the qur'an

From what I understand very few Muslim sects reject al-Bukhari as authentic, and therefore as authoritative. Usually it's the Quran Only types. You might compare them to the "Jesus' words only" types. There are a few others, but they are rather in the minority IIRC.

Did anybody catch the headline today about how one long-term ISIS captive reported that they never discussed religion or had a Koran? I know this is going to be used as ammunition for "see, true Islam is peaceful!" type arguments, but I really do think there's legitimate doubt as to how much of a religious movement it is as opposed to political draped in religious rhetoric.
"I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

Or they don't distinguish between religion and politics. You know, like Christians used to not distinguish between the two back when we actually owned our countries.
