Ummmm.... in that pic, perhaps a little TOO happy.

The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Here's an article about this situation. I remember our Doc saying (but didn't know what he was talking about) that he would have to spend hundreds of thousands on IT infrastructure and other requirements to comply....

          Source: WSJ

For one thing, providers who want to participate in the “reformed” physician payment plan must control their own IT infrastructure to comply, as opposed to collaborating freely across space rented in the cloud. This practical need can require IT infrastructure that costs millions of dollars. It makes participation absurdly expensive for anyone but a hospital that already has its own server hub.

The gist of this is that the rules almost FORCE private practice doctors to sell out to hospitals or "big medicine".

People who last year were able to keep individual health plans that didn’t meet requirements of the Affordable Care Act and state law don’t have that option this year. The plans are being cancelled.

About 250,000 Virginians are affected. Virginia legislators have said insurers can request extensions for such plans, but so far, only one request has been made.

A reader wrote to offer her situation as an example of the impact:

“For 2014, my monthly payment is $350 with a $2,500 deductible and a zero percent co-pay once I meet that amount. For 2015, my silver plan, which most closely resembles my 2014 policy, is a monthly payment of $602 with a $2,600 deductible and an additional 20 percent co-pay once that is met, up to $5,950.

“Am I sickly? No. Do I take high-priced medicines? No. ... My problem is I’m 60. In accordance with the (Affordable Care Act), I have to have maternity coverage and also coverage for my children’s regular checkups, eye care and dental care. So while a 40-year-old can expect to pay somewhere between $241 and $377, a 60-year-old who has already spent years paying for contraceptive care, maternity and juvenile care may end up paying as much as $13,174 for coverage ($602 monthly premium x 12, plus $5,950 maximum).”

Did I mention that, when my wife went to the doctor's office to pick up her test results, she saw a large sign on the front door that said "Not Accepting New Patients"?

                AND.....

                Source: YahooNews

A survey this year by The Physicians Foundation found that 81 percent of doctors describe themselves as either over-extended or at full capacity, and 44 percent said they planned to cut back on the number of patients they see, retire, work part-time or close their practice to new patients.
