I'd call this less arrogance than Stockholm syndrome (though it enabled their own arrogance for a time.)

Nevertheless, it's a good time to refer to Henry Dampier for how this plays out in other countries, since everything applies to the Democrats as well:

The attempt to form a global elite has failed, except at the surface. There are many reasons for this:

    -Lack of religious cohesion
-Lack of ethnic cohesion and intermarriage except across certain lines
    -Lack of geographic cohesion
    -Lack of linguistic cohesion
    -Lack of shared moral rules
-Lack of a functioning international legal framework (which will never happen for the above reasons)
-Inability to command loyalty at a local level

This notion that the men of Moncole Magazine and Davos can rule over seven billion people without using much force at all has not been proven. And in fact, we see betrayal and backstabbing after backstabbing occur on the global scene.

If there was a truly global elite, Russia would be part of the fold. China would not be pivoting between the US and Russia as the situation suited it. Tell-all memoirs about CIA manipulation of the German press would not be top best-sellers.

Much as I don't like Obama I think those primarily responsible for his shellacking are the other Democrats. Cutting him out of the mid-terms was a terrible idea. Democrats would then run on Obama's performance but without the aid of his personality cult, which brings voters out in droves. It's like trying to get people to come to your Branch Davidian ranch without David Koresh.
I disagree. Where Obama was allowed to help, he didn't. He campaigned in Maryland for the governor's race, and the Republican candidate won despite having a 2-1 disadvantage in voter rolls. In Georgia, a radio interview he did was instrumental in sinking the Democratic candidate he was there to support.

It wasn't just Obama, it was the entire democratic party. It was political correct insanity -- can't say bossy, can't say brown bag, can't say Washington Redskins, can't dress as a geisha for Halloween, it's racist to oppose Obamacare, it's racist to back the second amendment, it's racist to oppose amnesty. The Affordable Care Act actually costing people more than their previous plan which they couldn't keep. The hysteria over gun control and the emotional and irrational arguments used to support it, suspending kids for eating poptarts in the shape of a gun or imitating a gun with their hands. Democratic party went full-on retard, and Obama will do even more damage if he tries to strong-arm Congress with his executive powers.

Maybe Obama is a secret Republican planted to make the Democrats look bad.

I have been curious to see if they would turn on him if he gets impeached over the Executive Orders immigration fiasco (should he choose to go it alone). That way, they can brag in the next election cycle that they "reached across the aisle"

Enough, Donna Brazile told White House political director David Simas the day after the midterms.
Democrats are in worse shape than when President Barack Obama came into office — the number of seats they have in Congress, the number of governors, a party approval rating that’s fallen behind Republicans for the first time in recent history, enthusiasm, energy. The White House, Brazile said when she came to meet with Simas, has got to focus for the next two years on getting the party into better shape, and Obama’s the best and most effective person to get out the message.

As much Hillary Clinton anticipation as there is, two weeks later, Democrats are still reeling and anxious. Obama may have built his political career without the party — and created anti-establishment alternatives — but he’s a lame duck with a new Congress that’s been elected to oppose him. He needs Democrats. And they need him.
“The base craves his leadership,” Brazile said in an interview later that week, following a meeting of the DNC committee that’s beginning to set the rules for the next presidential nomination. “They want him in the mix, talking about what Democrats accomplished, what Democrats are fighting for, and what the president has done to make lives better.”
